I have 17K miles Z51 M7 and love the car.

The other day the car would not start because the theft deterrent system. No one tried breaking in but, more importantly, I couldn't get the system to clear. I used the key fob to unlock, relock, placed the fob in the steering column and still no start. Five minutes later, it finally started but I don't know why.

Any thoughts how to clear this if it were to reoccur?

 

Interesting this occurred again today, I'll ask dealer if this is a known issue.

 

There is an update for the theft deterrent system via the immobilizer module, and several for the keyless entry module.

Perhaps one of these would solve the issue.
