Run Flat Tires
So it would appear that I should not drive them here in El Paso in the winter? Although we do not get much snow and ice we do experience days where our high may not get above 32. That happens rarely, perhaps once or twice a year and then only for a day or two. We have perhaps a dozen or so nights a year that the temps dip into the teens and the highs in the 30's. Our average low for December and January is 33 degrees F. Should I be concerned about these tires for winter use ? Am I in any danger that they will become brittle and fly apart or wear faster by using them in the winter ?
Cracking? Who knows? A couple posters on this forum have said that they’ve experienced such a situation.
My C7 is waiting shipment from Bowling Green but I have a G8GT with the 6.0 liter L79 engine. Car has Bridgestone WR rated summer only tires. I used it in the winter in the mountains of NM. I clawed my way up a moderately steep road to my house, never had any issues but I avoided snow whenever possible.
Drive another car when it is 32 in old El Paso. Don
