I have My front license plate mounted and I'm thinking about removing it? I have noticed that My cooling fan is running almost everytime I slow down or come to a stop?

Would the Plate be blocking that much air?

I noticed my car will run about 10 degrees cooler with the Aero Panel removed, but it also takes noticeably longer to reach full operating temperature.

Which license plate bracket are you using?
If you have the aero panel installed, I think it blocks about 50% of the open area of the grille.

If you trim the panel down where it is just the size of the plate, then it opens up at least 25% more area by allowing flow around the plate.
(75% open instead of 50% open area)

I did this mod this morning and just got back from a couple hours out cruising. Definately makes a difference. Engine temp was 219 and oil temp was 223. It is 85 and muggy today. Jigsaw with a wood blade did the trick. Took about 3 minutes. And it looks pretty cool, license plate is just kind of suspended...

I am glad I live in a state that does not have a front plate. Many years of being stopped because I refused to install it. Just destroys the looks on the car from the frontal view. Now it is cause mechanical issues.

I’ve said it before but if you have to have a front plate, try Top Flight Reproductions. Gives max airflow and is to me acceptable cosmetically and much better than the nose tumor that is the other GM option.

Mine is on order. Don

This design still blocks part of the grille, and it breaks up the lines of the car more to have it mounted below the front bumper instead of in the grille.
I suspect the grille mounting has about the same amount of grille open to airflow since the low mounted plate still blocks the lower half of the grille, and the grille mounted plate can flow air above and below the plate.
