C7 Vents
I have a base C7 A6. It appears that the vents on the rear fenders are functional. Is that the case or is it just for style?
I know Z51s have functional vents but am not sure about base models. Thanks, Don

The Z51 passenger-side duct routes the air to the differential cooler.
On the base, the passenger side vent, while still there, is non-functional. The driver side vent is functional on base models with automatics.

What does the driver’s side vent cool? Looked under it a bit ago, but didn’t get underneath as I don’t have the gear I want yet. Casual observation didn’t show the ducting. Don

Driver-side vent goes to the automatic transmission cooler.

Nope. The vents are located underneath the body in the convertibles.

Thanks for the help Theta, a vent helping to cool the transmission is something I want in central TX! Appreciate your consistent, helpful contribution to this forum. Don

On a Z51 M7, the driver's side vent supplies air to the manual transmission cooler.
