Default tire question

So wife is not down for dropping another $7k for rims and tires. Do you think that the Toyo r888 285/35/20 will add any traction at all for me to dink around at the track until next quarter?

It depends on what you mean, really. Do you want to change just the rears? That will be around $800 mounted and balanced. If you want the fronts, too (advisable as you don't want two different compounds), you're up to a total of $1500.

For a total of $3000, you cvould have a new set of 20x11 / 19x9.5 Crays with proper Toyo 888 315 rears and 265 fronts, keep the factory center caps, etc. Wheels are lighter, too. Cheaper and even lighter if you go with a 19x11 / 18x9.5 setup.

Of course, I'm biased, but it's a good option if your 'temporary' solution will cost $1500 (half of a proper long-term solution). And, you get to keep the stock wheels/tires as they are for resale now or later down the road. It's a win-win.

I've not even seen my wheels/tires yet, but the financial aspect (gain:outlay) was too good to pass over.

You can get a new set of 4 TSW wheels on ebay for $799 delivered. 295/35/19 Nitto drag radials for the rear are ~$530 shipped for 2.

Wow - in that case you'd be in for under $2k for all 4. Impressive.

I went with the toyo r888 285/35/20 rear and 24/35/19 in front. Net should be $800 after selling the stockers. I will post up how the setup holds up.

Theta, how many miles you think you can get out of the toyos?

given how soft they are, obviously with aggresive driving but not doing burnouts everywhere....more like a weekend worrier and smoking some cars here and there at a light (closed road of course LOL)

I've got 325s on 11.5 inch wheels. 315s will fit fine. use as much offset as possible...

on an 11 inch wheel with 315s I would use +83

No clue - I'd like to know, myself. It depends on how much spin/hop you get on the rears. Front will (should) wear the same for everyone.

4-5 more weeks, so you'll have to wait a little bit.

I read this and went straight to Ebay... I don't see $799 let alone $799 shipped TSW's... Not calling you a liar but I'd sure love to know where you found them!

You'll be fine - I don't think you're the first one here (search for Brickyard), and VR said they will fit fine (and I trust them implicitly). Remember Cray made these specifically for the C7 with that tire size in mind.

+83 would let you run a 335 (10+10) but it might gap. And like I said, Ben somehow is running 355s.

TSW runs +65s on 10.5" wide wheels - you'd want to stick to 295/305 for that. 315 is just going to look stupid and not fit well.

Best I found was $272 on the fronts and $305 on the rears. Might have been for the smaller size or just somewhere we're not looking?

Not enough sizes, not enough availability, too many car specific compounds, but take a look anyway

This is the vendor I got mine from but I got 18/19's, contact him with what you need. He even called me up before he shipped to make sure they fit:

Thanks! The green silicone protector on my phone was reflecting the flash and changing my colors a bit. I attached another. I do like the bronze wheels torch red combo though. Originally I just got bronze because it was the cheapest but it turned out well.
