It's completely normal. It's unspent fuel detonating in your exhaust system.
It also happens on rapid decel when going from WOT to letoff. It's quite pleasing to most, especially when you shoot a flame (catless)...

DFCO popping is due to low timing transition numbers. you could raise them up in the old tunes and eliminate the popping but I haven't seen the tables in the E92.
