a6 coupe,
I'm at my first oil change and I noticed that the oil level was at the first 'mark' on the stick. is this normal to use this much oil during breakin??
also my passenger window will auto-up but when it gets to top, it will go back down again without me touching anything.
lastly does anyone else hear a 'flapping' noise at around 30-55mph. I don't notice it at higher speeds since wind noise is loud. I can hear it with the top off, not when it's on. sounds like loose piece of plastic. it's not metal on metal..
it's currently at dealer, just wanted to get you guys input.
thanks
John

Some oil consumption during break-in and/or aggressive driving is normal.

Is the door open when the window goes down a little? If so it does that for cabin pressure when shutting the door.

I understand and yes the window acts correctly when it's all the way up and I shut the door. the problem is when the window is all the way down (and the door is shut with the top on) and I flick the auto-up button, the window will automatically go all the way up then instantly go back down. almost like the limit switch needs to be tweaked...

If your avatar is your car, it's not a Z51 so I won't go into the quirks of properly checking the oil of one!

As for your window, sounds like you need to reindex it. See your OM on page 2-22

My base manual transmission has used 1/2 quart in 1,200 miles. I will change oil when at the add mark. That will put the mileage around 2,000 miles for the first change and six months.

Might check your outside pipes for oil. Then check your intake for oil. That quite a bit to use.
I just throughly cleaned mine and made an adjustment to try
before I give in to the catch can that is coming tomorrow.

Just hard to accept when some are are not having issues. But I think a surprizing number are but don't know it! Check your intake since
your amount missing is higher than normal.

Hey Prodago,

Since your car is currently at the dealership, PM us your name, contact info, VIN, current mileage, and the dealership your Vette is currently at. I have some information that might be helpful to you!

Default Latest update

got car back and
1. yes, window had to be re-indexed.
2. supposedly GM allows for car to use 1 quart per 2k miles, that's what they told me......
3. they had to replace the tensioner pulley, they claimed that was making the flapping noise. They said that there was a bulletin on it for my car.

Apparently we need to keep calling to check to see if there are "bulletins" or whatever. you would think I would have gotten a call from dealer that pulley was bad, but then again....they've been paid

My car has used a little less than a quart in 2600 miles. My Camaro used a little oil for 10,000 miles and then it stopped... It really takes longer than the original 500 miles to really get the engine broken in.
