2014 vert, A6. In , and only when I'm in Sport mode. When it's "punched" and the tranny drops to second gear the tranny stays in second. Let off the gas, it stays in second. If I change to Touring mode it gets her back to normal, or use the paddle shifer. I checked the last time this happened and the tranny temp was at 175 at the time. I called the dealer they gave this info to the Corvette guy, I'm awaiting his call back.
She runs as expected in all other modes and conditions.
Yes, I thought it was an intentional rev matching type feature but I could be wrong. It has happened to me in track or sport mode.
Check out this article:
"That's where the Drive Mode Selector comes in. In the standard Touring setting, the automatic provides quick, efficient shifts. But turn the dial to Sport, and it'll hold longer in the lower gears. This software setting is identified by the acronym PAL (Performance Algorithm Lifting), for the "lift foot" style of shifting.
Staying in a lower gear is normal once more aggressive driving occurs, GM refers to this as "PAL" for Performance Algorithm Liftfoot" and it has been used for a number of years in various automatic equipped GM vehicles. The first time I experienced it was in my 2008 Cadillac CTS when shortly after it was fully broken in I accelerated hard to merge onto an interstate after the car ahead of me decided to slow and pull to the shoulder in mid-merge. It was startling when it happened but it shifted up normally after a short time at sustained cruising speed.
As already stated, it sounds like it's going into Performance Shift Mode, which occurs with even a brief WOT stab. You should see a message on the DIC stating "Performance Shift Mode Active". It will stay in the current gear, I believe, until redline before shifting. This is similar to "Sport Plus" mode on the Porsche PDK.

It is supposed to do that, the car thinks you want to play so it gets in to a Performance Driving Mode.
I have a 2014 C7 Vert A6 also and it does it all the time.
You will also notice it even more pronounced in track mode.
After you do this watch as you slow down for a light or a turn the car will rev match downshift, pretty cool.
It does get a little annoying when passing on the highway and waiting a bit for the revs to come back down, but the automatic tranny is worth it to me.
I have found that if you don't want this to happen simply make a quick shift from drive to neutral and back again to drive and it will stop rev matching.

Better yet, tap the upshift paddle and it will upshift to the next higher gear and return to normal.
