Default Will 2016 LT1 get more HP?

Wonder if they left some room on the table for an increase to boost sales next year?

I think there will be a GS variant coming, probably when sales cool down a little bit. Might be a couple more years because C7 and C7Z are still HOT!

What could they do to free up an additional 20-30 hp like they did when they went from the LS2 to the LS3 engine? The 30 hp gained from the LS3 to the LT1 was mostly due to direct injection and variable valve timing is my understanding. It seems all the low hanging fruit are gone.

Cams & heads and fuel & air delivery might do the trick for the LT1. I know back with the LSX style engines, the cams and heads was updated quit often from the factory.
Aftermarket is showing there's more power in these LT1 engines ,Cams & Head porting , intakes , fuel pump cam lobes, among others and don't forget tuning.

The preproduction vehicles were running around 496 hp and the fall off on power curve ...up top...

I'd suggest the increase is a tune away.....for the gm engineers...

Only downside is the ever increasing government mandate for better fuel efficiency

E85 capable and a better tune the current stingray will make 500hp no problem. Plenty of room left on the table.

Default Heard Corvette to get more power?

I heard that the 2016 corvette will have 480HP in base model and the Camaro will probably have 470-475hp. Also, I think there will be a Grand Sport Corvette that will probably get my guess 525-550 and have the Z06 improvements carbon fiber but have little less amenities than base and be about 100-150 pounds lighter. My guess lighter magnesium wheels and suspension bits, more carbon fibre maybe titanium exhaust an maybe less speakers and other items to shave weight and have it more track oriented. if they did that then you would probably have something halfway between the two but more Z06 feel. My guess about 0-60 in about 3.3 seconds 11.4 second 1/4 and 202mph top speed for about 67k base. I would buy it faster than base but more controlable power than the Z06 giving more driver control. The perfect blend go with the much better 8 speed auto or the new 7 speed dual clutch that they are about to put on the market

Based on the first years of the C6 (see below), and with the Mustang GT already pushing 435hp from a 5.0L engine, I'm guessing yes.

2006/2007 400 hp
2008/10/11/12/13 430 hp

As for room left to increase hp to the 6.2L engine. There's definitely plenty of room for increases. Check out:

I think there will be a hp increase. Why? The auto transmission is still not available in the Stingray here in Europe but will be in MY16, certified to new Euro6 emission rules, and if the power train should remain unchanged it would already have been done for MY15. Don't think GM will take the cost to certify the new 8-speed auto and existing engine for one production year only.

When they went from the LS2 to the LS3, they didn't just "free" up additional horsepower.

They increased the displacement from 6L to 6.2L and they changed the design of the heads along with some other changes. They did not just adjust the tune to get that additional 30 horsepower.
