X-pipes: stock vs. Borla vs. Corsa

x-pipe sounds
The Manzo x-pipe is just ever so slightly louder than the stock NPP system when it is closed. Most people couldn't tell the difference. But when the NPP is open and the throttle is floored it is very loud and aggressive. Ed

I had to do my bank run for work this afternoon and stopped by my house on the way and took some pics.
Box a little beat up
pipes
bottom was a little bent, but was easy to fix with vise grips
I didn't see any bolts in the box, but I was in a hurry so they may be there. I did see the exhaust clamps.
Quality looks great!

^^^ Wait why would you get it with cats? The purpose is to remove the secondary cats for more sound. This won't be much different than stock.

Edit: they are not cats but "tuned resonators"

Those are high-flow cats.

So I bought one of the ebay type X pipes with the resonators. Welds, tubing and quality were as nice as any exhaust product I have ever bought. It fit in place of the stock x pipe perfectly.Whole process took about 1.5 hours,on jack stands in the driveway including making 4 spacers to effectively shorten the 4 bolts that hold the down pipes to the new mid pipes (the bolts were too long and I didn't want to chase around on a Sunday evening,Mother's Day at that, looking for metric bolts). It is just barely louder until the NPP system opens at larger throttle openings, then it is very loud and aggressive. I like it a lot ! The guys at work told me to be careful where I open it up, they are starting a pool on when I will get a ticket for excessive noise ! I have a Z06 so maybe that makes it louder than a NA motor. Ed

It is a perforated pipe encircled with packing, that you can see straight through. Ed

I'm plenty old enough...lol. Thanks that is what I was curious about. Well the pipe I bought says clearly that it removes the cats and not a high flow cat pipe, so now I get to deal with the vender to switch it out for a non-cated one.

I just ordered the Borla X-pipe for my 17 GS. I am thinking of going to the Army hobby shop, $9.60/hr to use the lift. I have a Dewalt cordless impact gun (400ftlbs). I ordered the Jack pads for the lift. When wrenching Murphy's law always comes into play so I wanted to reach out and figure out tackling this. Does anybody know the socket size for the bolts? With a lift and the right tools is it safe to assume its pretty straightforward swap? I have high Ceramic anti-seize paste I use for motorcycle exhaust joints, should I use this on the X-pipe connections? The car is new with 600 miles on it so I am not expecting to encounter frozen bolt etc.

Quick update, I'm sending my ebay x-pipe back to the seller due to the damage and because it has high flow 200 cell cats installed. Once I hear back from other ebay sellers about weather they have cats of not I'll order a different on and update.
