Maybe Corsa by a hair since it has a slightly larger diameter, but it is also a smoother tone.

one thing ive found interesting is the sound right when you start the engine vs 30 seconds later. right when I fire it up its loud, raspy, gurgurly, sounds really good. but then after just a minute or less, it smooths out and gets a bit more quiet. whats the scientific/mechanical reason for this? I don't suppose theres any way to keep it like start up is there?

My theory is its the muffler baffling material warming up; this seems pretty common in the louder exhaust systems I've had. Cold start-ups always sound the most wicked

It could also have something to do with the engine fueling/timing going from its cold warm-up cycle to regular operating cycle.

I did the Corsa double helix with the stock NPP. It made some difference and I liked it better than stock alone for sure.

Next, I added the Borla Atak dual mode exhaust to the mix.

Sometime this summer, ARH mid-length headers will be on the agenda.

Default Just ordered x-pipe from CarID

I tried all the known Borla dealers and no one had it in stock but then I saw a link for CarID. I emailed them and they had it in stock ready to ship so I just ordered it

Great thread by the way!

You only mentioned the 2. You should have mentioned American Racing Headers and B&B also.

I believe that would be out of this thread scope unless I missing something. I believe OP was trying to decide between two popular x-pipes. He invested in buying both to decide which one he will keep. He made a very nice detailed review.

You are correct. I did this comparison out of my own pocket and only looked at the X-pipes I seriously considered.

The B&B looks way over-priced to me. The best price I can find is $630, but rather than being single-piece tubes like the Borla and Corsa, each pipe is comprised of 4 welded together sections and doesn't utilize the stock exhaust hangers. If anything, a part with construction like that should be cheaper, not more expensive. The only reason I can see purchasing the B&B is if you are dead set on a 3.0" X-pipe with a single crossover.

Regarding the American Racing, I am almost positive they do not make a bolt-on replacement X-pipe for the C7.

I was going to go ahead and order AMH and they said the X pipe with the free flow cats were included.

Correct, for their header system. This comparison was only about X-pipes that bolted up to an otherwise stock exhaust system.

My thinking,if doing X pipes might as well do headers also.
But that's just how I think.

Which is fine, nothing wrong with that line of thinking, many will agree with you. My goals differed though, I'm looking to stay somewhat emissions/warranty/stock tune compliant so for my return trips to the dealership I can flash back to stock and not worry about check engine lights, drivability issues, etc. when the car is out of my hands. I also want to be able to pass the annual OBDII emissions inspection without issue or tune hacks (I've done plenty of that in the past, now I'm ready to just keep things simple and basic). Rather than run full headers, I opted for ported/coated exhaust manifolds + catless X-pipe while retaining the stock primary cats in the downpipes.
