X-pipes: stock vs. Borla vs. Corsa
#81
I was considering both... can't really go wrong with either but I ended up going with Corsa's since I prefer their sound engineering and the 3" double-helix design. No drone at any speeds... moderately louder at idle and really opens up under load (or WOT) with the NPP's open. Love it!

Which is fine, nothing wrong with that line of thinking, many will agree with you. My goals differed though, I'm looking to stay somewhat emissions/warranty/stock tune compliant so for my return trips to the dealership I can flash back to stock and not worry about check engine lights, drivability issues, etc. when the car is out of my hands. I also want to be able to pass the annual OBDII emissions inspection without issue or tune hacks (I've done plenty of that in the past, now I'm ready to just keep things simple and basic). Rather than run full headers, I opted for ported/coated exhaust manifolds + catless X-pipe while retaining the stock primary cats in the downpipes.

That is not true when using the Diablo handhelds. It is likely true for tuning platforms like HPTuners though.

I emailed CarID to get my tracking number and they said that they are canceling my order unless I provide a shipping address outside of CA since its illegal to sell this X-pipe in CA!! I told them to stop wasting my time and cancel it. I ordered the system from another distributor. Lets see what happens.

Ordered .........
So today while I was having the car lowered at 21st Century Muscle Cars in Addison, I had Matt order the Borla X pipe that my fellow Texan Kracka has on his car. They met everyone's advertised prices inc. free shipping. I asked Matt to schedule the dyno for me so that we will have actual before and after numbers.

There are plenty of track cars in California that will never be registered for street use. and as such, just about everyone will ship off-road systems here.
This is more likely the owners of said company mis-reading the laws, or having a dislike for California. I see it all the time in the gun world. Lots of shops refuse to send anything here, even if it is completely legal because they just have to fill out one small form and mail it with the firearm to the local FFL. It seems that's too much and business is too good to deal with that.

Gen 1 firing order, cam and whatever else would need to be done.
LSx has a sound all its own, only heard 2 or 3 (cammed) that sounded "right". They sure run hard though, give credit where its due. Even if the motors are ugly as sin.

They can ship them here. There is an often used disclaimer: "For use on OFF-HIGHWAY vehicles only". This all technically applies to every state, even if you don't have emissions testing as the law that deals with removing, relocating or modifying catalytic converters is a federal law.

One thing thst scares me about all the CA businesses and residents flooding into TX is thst they may bring their liberal BS politics with them. They better remember why they moved here in the first place!
