Default Front Splitters

What is the purpose of the two black rubber splitters on the front of the C7 and what happens if they are removed?

On the C5 they were used to send air around the car at speeds of 100 mph an over. I removed them, and cut 3/4 inch off the remaining center section, and never had a overheating problem in 30,000 miles including track days at Road America.

Those are air deflectors, not splitters. They are used for air flow control especially at high speeds (read that as over 100 mph). I took mine off of my C6, leaving the center in place for cooling. I have removed them on my C7 to stop the scrapping when I use my driveway. Removal of those will not affect the performance of your car unless you are on the track. If you go to the track leave them on or put them on before you head to the track.

The splitter is a flat piece that fits under the front fender's leading edge and is also used for air flow.
