Default Will Z06 steel brake calipers/rotors fit on a base model?

Will Z06 steel brake calipers/rotors fit on a base model? I know you will need to upgrade to 19/20" wheels to clear the larger calipers but wanted to know if the parts would even fit..

Really? Well thats good to know. But, is this a direct upgrade for the base model or are other things necessary such as Z06 front knuckles, etc? Meaning can I buy just the calipers, rotors and pads and have everything I need or are more things necessary to do the conversion??

I found the ZL1 kit on line for $2905, I wonder if it is a direct bolt up. The rotor is also only 14.6" it could potentially fit under an 18" Wheel.

Interesting, but how could that be? Arent the Z06 brake caliper and rotor larger that the Z51 brakes? And the Z51 brakes for a fact cant fit inside the base model 18" wheel as they do not clear.

All depends on Caliper design, Stoptech calipers fit under 18"s all day with 360mm rotors. The Z51 Caliper is way bigger than it needs to be, not a very efficient design.

The Wilwood 4 wheel kit fits under 18's and is only $3400 for a 4 wheel kit.

We've already completed selling our first Z06 brake conversion. It was the Z07 brake option with the carbon ceramic rotors. It was approximately $12,500 with all of the discounts just for the brake setup. It is already up and running.

Holy cow that a lot! More than I need though. I'm on the fence between Z51 and Z06 steels. Ceramic setups are too costly for my needs lol

Thanks for letting us know it's available though Gene!

Sounds like someone had too much money and needed to burn it!

Gene have you done a kit for the Z51 using the Z06 Fronts? Is it a direct swap?

This was on a base model car? I can't imagine they fit under stock wheels.

This was the price for the brake kit only. It will fit stock or Z51 models, but of course you'll have to handle the wheel situation separately.

Bumping this up. Anyone do this swap yet? If so, what kind of caliper clearance are we dealing with on straightbody cars?

I ended up deciding to upgrade from my base model brakes to Z51 brakes and I am happy with the outcome now. The Z06 uses the same rear calipers as the Z51 AND the base model (just different rotors and pads), so you would only need to do the front Z06 calipers, rotors, pads, and brake lines to do the job. (Brake lines are different on the Z06). Dont know if anyone has completed this swap yet or not. My decision to go with Z51 brakes over the Z06 brakes was based purely on cost. I was able to do the complete Z51 front and rear calipers, rotors, pads, and SS lines for just under $1,800.00. I bought everything used except the SS lines and a second set of pads. I got a stock set of Z51 pads, but decided to go with a new complete set of Carbotechs 1521's and flushed the brake system with DOT5 Motul all under that price point. Even though I didn't need to, I did the rear calipers so they matched from a color perspective. If I had chose to go the route of the Z06 brake upgrade, the cost would be around $1,400 or so for just the fronts. Once again, I am happy with my decision.
