Default PDR trouble

Hi gang, I did a search, but didn't find anything. Has anyone else had trouble with their PDR? Mine says there is no card in the reader, but I got a brand new one on the day I took delivery. Any help is much appreciated. I have taken it out and reinserted it several times, but to no avail?

Thanks,

David

Glove box slot and formatted to FAT32. Have setup the PDR in about 40 2015 Vettes so far, haven't had one not work.

That being said, a loose connector or pinched wire in the harness could cause any number of problems.

But check the first two things off your list before going further.

I am using this . The manual says to use a class 10 SD card. I am not sure if this matters , but it reads fine.

Default Yep - same problem

I took my SD chip out of my PDR to copy one of the recordings. I put it back in and it now claims there's no SD card inserted. I reformatted it (FAText) and still no worky. Put in a new SD chip - same result.

I guess it's to the dealer I go unless someone knows a trick or where to kick it to get it to function again.

I had a similar problem, but it was the card. One day the card worked, the next, nada.

Take the card and try reading it on your computer/laptop, or use it with another device that takes a SD card. If it works in/with that then you know it's the PDR and not the card. If the card gives you nothing with any other device then I'd put $ on it being the card.

My $0.02

Thanks for the tip.

I copied the original mp4 file I had copied from the PDR back onto the SD card. Then went to another computer and played the mp4 without issue. Then put the card back in the PDR. The PDR still claims no SD card is inserted.

I was hoping it would work. Now to the dealership who probably has no idea how to fix/replace a PDR.

The card must be formatted FAT 32 (not extended FAT) which I believe means you are limited in card size. For me 64G no good. 16G good.

This is a limitation of the built in Windows7 tools. 3rd party tool works for larger cards.

Search is your friend... 256Gb working for PDR (which means smaller cards work too). Just make sure you put it in the glove box slot.

Mine said the same thing until I formatted the card correctly.

FAT32 is required, and you'll probably need to download a free utility to do it. Easy to find with a google search.

I'm currently running a 256 GB card with no issues.

Default Fixed!!

Thanks for all the help. The little utility "fat32format" did the trick. You saved me what could have been a frustrating trip to the dealership.

I'm using a 64gb SD card and I could have sworn I took it out of the package and put it in the PDR slot and it worked initially. However, I didn't check to see how it was formatted.

Now it's clear that the PDR only recognizes FAT32 not ExtFAT. I tried another new 64gb card and checked to see how it was formatted. It was ExtFAT from the factory. It would not work in the PDR with ExtFAT but when I reformatted it with fat32format it worked fine. It still shows 64gb capacity and 1576 minutes of recording time.

This is a great forum.

I will. About a month ago I tried using it to record 1/4 mile times and could only do 12.4 sec & 120 mph. But that was uphill with no launch control. I'm dying to find a flat section of service road somewhere away from traffic & local gendarmes to try it again. But for a novice, I'm happy with a 120 mph quarter.

It's an amazing car. And 30 mpg at 75 mpg I might add.
