Default Race Seats and Error Codes/Issues

I used Kirkey race seats in my 2007 and 2011 without issue. No codes or errors.

Plan to run some HPDEs this summer with my 2015 C7.

The following quote was from Jason@Katech:

You will get codes. 2013+ uses seat position sensors to change airbag deployment based on seat position. We've been working through this on a 2013 ZR1 in our shop getting Sparcos. You need to get seat position sensor simulators from Vette Works. You need to transfer the glycerin bag (I'm assuming it has one like the C6) from the old passenger seat to the new or you will get passenger presence system codes. You'll need resistors in the side airbag connectors and the seatbelt pre-tensioners or you will get codes. The C6 is tricked with 4.3 ohm resistors so I would start with that. You will also need to jumper the buckle sensor to trick it into thinking the seatbelt is engaged or you will get a seatbelt light. We're down to one code on the 2013 ZR1 we're working on so we're almost there.
Any ideas or input?! Thanks.

I started calling it "electronic patching". And there is some electronic patching to do.

OTHERWISE, a track car could be built with the street-rod crate-engine electronics and there would be no codes except related to ignition and fuel injection. To do that all OEM systems are pulled out of the car and the car is completely re-wired. The anti-lock brakes would be replaced with a master cylinder that has a balance bar adjustment. The electronic limited-slip would be replaced with a mechanical limited slip. The electronic dashboard would be given up. The rev-matching would be given up. The air bags would be given up. The NPP and AFM would be given up. And so on. (Someone called it a shell of a race car but the SCCA T1 rules don't allow a traction control system if it uses the brakes and the rules don't require anti-lock brakes.)
.

Anyone know if these issues/errors from removing the stock seats are going to cause issues with the PTM, traction control, stability control, or ABS?

Thanks!

The seat position sensors are used for the airbag system. They will not impact the other systems in the car. Your airbag light will be on as long as they are out and disconnected.

You won't get any codes. Been running my Kirkey race seat in my 2015 z06 all season and zero codes. You get a service airbag message at start up but you hit the select button on the steering wheel and it goes away. Only Catch is, your airbags no longer work nor your 3 point belts.

Funny... same except seats and belts just installed. What mounts are your Kirkeys on? Hardbar here. Didnt fit nowhere near as well as in my C6.

Custom mounts. Seat is fixed however so it was a pain getting it in the right position but with it fixed, I sit very low

That looks like a great setup. Do you leave the race seat in full time or swap after each track day? If you swap, how long does that process take?

I'm trying to find a way to sit lower in the car as my head rubs on the roof with my helmet on.

Hi. I actually leave it in full time however I wouldn't think it would take long to swap. 30 mins tops is my guess.

That was one of the reasons for me as well. I'm taller than the average bear and I hated having my helmet touch the roof. Now with this set up, I can even run a air hose to the top of my helmet.

How hard was it to screw the mounts into the rear posts? I'm looking at the seat and mounts and it seems with the seat all the way back you wouldn't be able to reach the rear seat studs?

EDIT: I see your seat isn't all the way back, like mine would have to be. Before I commit, would it be possible to somehow do those rear bolts with the seat all the way back? Also, would you share where you got your custom mounts and what they cost?

How tall are you if I may ask? I am 6'3 and all the way back is to much for me with this seat. Reason is, you literally sit in the seat vs on it with the stock seats so you gain more leg room. Are you planning on having a fixed seat or are you wanting to have the ability to slide back n forth on rails? Reason I ask, is my buddy did with slide mounts and he barely gained any head room vs mine being fixed, I gained probably 2-3 inches because I can literally sit on the seat mounts on the base of the car. Con is, it's a fixed seating position. I do believe they do make a low profile seat rail but I am not sure how much you gain in head room.

These mounts were custom made by a buddy of mine who owns his own race shop. Once you decide and if you want to go the route I did, let me know and I can ask if he can fabricate some. They arent the prettiest in the world but they are rock solid and pass all the regulations .

I'm 6'4.5". 34" inseam. I actually wouldn't put the factory seat back all the way if it didn't equate to more head/knee room as it puts me just a touch too far from the wheel.

I don't care about adjustability. In fact it would be great to find the perfect position and be able to rip the seat out with just 4 bolts each time and know it was back in with exactly the right position.

I figured the sliders wouldn't work because they require another inch of head room and I need all I can get.

I think I'm going to order the MTI seat rails and a Sparco Pro 2000 ii seat with no seat pad. Which Kirkey seat did you go with?

Yes MTIs rails I heard are good. I have a Kirkey 47 series but may get a containment seat (45 series) to protect my head and neck more) just getting a lot of push back getting that type seat so need to way some pros vs cons.

Toilets did you lose the ability to use your power mirrors? I put a Sparco in my car this week and just drove it for the first time. My mirrors are pointed as far down as possible and they can't be moved. I tried pressing lightly on them to manually do it, they don't budge and I don't want to break it.

No, no issues what so ever. Does your window work? And what did you do with the wiring harness for the seat as well as the little plug that goes into the OEM seat belt harness just behind the seat?

Wiring Harness I just have sitting under the seat. Not sure what harness behind the seat you mean. I opened the plastic cover and unscrewed the belt from there to take the seat out. Only warning I have is for airbag

Ok me too. I would put painters tape over the opening just to keep crap from building up. I will take a pic tomorrow morning and show you the sensor plug . It goes into the OEM seatbelt harness just above the top of the seat. ( shoulder height) . I have mine plugged in but doubt it has anything to do with the mirror . I think it's tied to the airbag and seat sensor but wanted to eliminate all odds if yours happens to be unplugged
