I have a '14 Coupe with less than 3,000 miles and recently notice a whining noise when accelerating. Not at idle or at speed, only while accelerating. I turn off the air conditioner and the noise goes away.
Could the air compressor be going bad this early?
I have an appointment with the Chevy dealer later this week to take care of two recalls (parking brake nut & gas screen) and will tell them about it but thought I ask if anyone had this problem.
Could be same problem, although there is no noise at start-up, idle or at speed.
May want to try jacking up the front end and look at the bottom of the ac tensioner, look for any hydraulic fluid. You won't be able to see it from the top.

LouG... My 2015 is making the same noise.... Did you find a resolution?

My 2014 made the same noise. It's not the belt tensioner; it's the A/C compressor. I had mine replaced after 3 months and it is quieter, but still some whine. It's a design issue in my opinion. My 2013 camaro had the same compressor manufacturer and it was absolutely silent when running. I had a 2010 Mercedes GL450 with the same problem, only much worse. They were not going to spend millions of dollars redesigning only a a/c noise issue when the a/c itself actually working fine. Years later, they redesigned the car for other reasons which, as it turns out, made the problem go away.
