Default Oil Pressure??(?

Anyone notice the oil pressure doesn't change much? I'm use to seeing 60 psi on start up on the Avalanche (w/over 100k) and about 40psi at idle and then increasing upon acceleration. My '15 Vette seems to stay at 30psi ALL THE TIME and may creep up to 40psi on acceleration.

Normal, mine stays at about 38 all the time with 40 being the norm under acceleration. The oil pressure is measured at a different part of the engine in the LT1 than the LS engines .

As long as it's normal. Just use to seeing higher pressures on start up and under load.

There is a solenoid-operated valve controlled by the engine computer, as Pulse Width Modulation to maintain the pressure it wants.

Oil pressure does a lot of things in the LT1, including spraying under the pistons as demanded for cold start or heavy load. Routed oil pressure controls the eight lifters to disable four cylinders in V4 mode. Oil pressure controls the cam timing, too, with another PWM solenoid.

Then there is the matter of lubricating all the moving parts...

I was concerned about the oil pressure also. My oil pressure is 36-38 PSIG at idle, and doesn't change much either. I researched oil pressure for the LT4 and found this article

LUBRICATION

Calibrated with a spring that determines the pressure curve, an active displacement oil pump unique to the LT4 helps increase efficiency. For normal operation, the pump provides 44–58 psi of oil pressure. As engine speed goes up, bearings require more oil, so pressure increases to the 65–72-psi range. In case of spring failure, the pump defaults to the higher pressure.

I am taking it to the dealer this April and will ask the technician what the normal operating pressure should be.

Thoroughly confusing, IOM doesn't state what normal operating pressure should be either.

Keep in mind that unlike the LT4, the LT1 pressure is controlled by computer. They are very different animals.

My 2016 Z06, has the same 38 to 42 PSI oil pressure, never seen any more than that, hot or cold, so I am guessing the Oil Pressure is normal.
