C7z is same as C7 axles. Never had to change the axle ever since I did the upgrade (running pass axle on drive side). Multiple 1.4 60ft (auto) but honestly didnt beat on it alot to find out if they will handle real abuse. Car ran multip mid 9sec passes on DRs.

Yours an A8 so I wouldnt worry much. I believe Sam ran multiple low 1.3 60ft times. He did break a couple, but he did also beat on it. You will be fine in the 1.4 I would think, the 1.3s you might start breaking them. Just buy dss if you are worried and planning to beat on the car at the drag strip. If only doing slme testing and couple of passes here and there I would just swap them when they brake.

At a certain point you have to start worrying about blowing out the rear end after moving to beefier axles. Personally, i'd consider doing that first before the axles as having stronger axles and a weak pinion setup is a recipe for bad chit to happen..

I dont know why thy say to drop the clutch with those c7s. I believe with the right clutch, it should handle a slip and go. I broke 2 rear ends by dropping the clutch. If you slip it it should handle just fine.

As far as do the rear end before the axle, notmally you fix weakest point and move up. Sure if you can do both at the same time is better, but why chamge the rear end if the axle cant handle breaking it!n

This came up a few years ago but one guy that had a c5 did look at doing it & posted back up in here on that post then that they would not fit. But I am not sure from me trying it myself.

OK the driveshift shop says will not fit.

The axle outboard stubshaft on a C5 is 30 spline. The stubshaft on a C7 is 33 spline.
