Hey guys. So yesterday (Long story short) I put my wallet behind the infotainment screen to go get gas. I drove about 30 min and went to open it and the screen up/down button wasn't working! I eventually shut the car off for 20sec and restarted it, and it worked. Slightly nervous, but I let it slide.
Today I left work in a hurry because my mgw shifter was in the mail! Took the top off and went to turn on the cooled seats, and the **** that tells what temp the AC is at was dark, with no numbers. Fan control was also dark... I pressed the screen up/down and it worked, but the buttons for radio/media/home/etc... were all unresponsive. I couldn't take a picture because I was on the highway at this point, but was going to take a picture when i got home. About 10min into driving and I looked down and everything was back to normal --
After working at a dealer for 9 years I'm MORTIFIED to bring my car to the dealer for anything whatsoever lol ... anyone else have these issues or know what might have caused it?
I'm not sure where the issue lies though, the screen stayed on, it just didn't move. In both cases I'm not sure if it was a connector issue or the panel itself. Last thing I want is an "experienced" tech ripping apart the dash chasing a wire
Keep something in mind....don't know if this is your problem with screen going up and down. The screen will not go down while the car is in reverse, my car is stick and a few times this happened to me sitting in car during retained accessory power delay placing car in neutral will lower screen. I will only assume this was done so backup camera image will always be up while in reverse. Hope this helps.
