When the Vette didn't heat up quickly, it would go into limp mode and fans would go on full with A/C shutting off. Trick was to run Vette in 3rd with paddles, until it exceeded 160 (hopefully quickly). Once it was warm, it wouldn't go into limp mode. Unfortunately, I figured this out after driving it back to Iowa in 90 deg ambient temps. Was a sweat box. I then ordered a 170 T-stat, before I realized there were many with similar problems. When I replaced my 160 with 170, I found the cut rubber gasket. Checking it out before re-installing, I noticed the spring was pinching the gasket. Pulling the spring out, I found the end was sharp, and had a burr that would have eventually destroyed the gasket. So I filed the end into a rounded shape. Seems to be working just fine till I get the free replacements from Lingenfelter.
