Default TPMS sensor install questions

I bought a set of take-off rims, and a set of take-off TPMS sensors and nuts. Anyone have the shop manual instructions for installing them?

The sensors are "floppy." They can be flipped from side to side relative to the valve stem. How should they be oriented relative to the rim?

What should the nuts be torqued to?

Thanks.

They should hug the rim, with the stem in the hole nut on and snugged, push the sensor against the wheel then tighten the screw.

Sounds like you bought a set or Orange sensors they are the only ones I know of that have that feature the nuts I tighten with a deep 10mm socket just snug them then turn the nut about a 1/2 turn.

Before you go through mounting sensors, make sure they are live, if you don't have the tool take them to a tire shop they can check to see if they are alive.

I have bought dead sensors they were new never opened boxes, I learned the hard way about checking them first.

Ensure that the sensor body is flush to the wheel.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 7 Y (62 lb in).
Note: To avoid tire pressure sensor damage when mounting the tire back on the wheel, ensure a tolerance is maintained between the tire machine, or irons, tire bead, and the sensor.

So just install the sensor on one side of the wheel, nut on the other side then tighten it to 5 ft/lb, Any washer ?

I have no tq wrench but I read somewhere snug then 1/2 turn, is that about right? I am going to install it and let them mount and balance, save a few bucks.

Make sure you use the special gasket between the wheel and the sensor.

The gasket is #4 right?
Amazon Amazon

And you don't take apart the sensor when you are assembling it right, just install it the way it came.

Got my TPMS, came in an envelope didn't have any protection peanut Styrofoam or anything. Mailed via USPS first class. Should be no problem ? I guess TPMS should be pretty durable since wheel spins at a high rate of speed and you will hit small potholes etc?

Did you guys test if TPMS was working before mounting the tire, is there a way to test it. or just install and go.

I have a tpms reader for my now gone C6. There are other newer readers that can ping the new sensors. I would think a decent tire shop will have one to check them.

And I have gotten new used sensors "off the shelf" that had dead batteries. If you install them without checking you run the risk of having to at least partially dismount the tire to swap out the sensor for one with a good battery.
