I have a C7 Shark Gray Metallic Convertible with 550 miles. Over the 4th of July weekend it was hit on the hood by toxic birds___. After removing it, a stain the size of a nickel remains on the hood. It appears it went right through the clear coat. I took it to a body shop and they couldn't get it out and said I may have to repaint the entire hood. I never experienced anything like this before. Any ideas on how to remove this stain short of a repaint would be appreciated.

How long was the stain on the hood before it was cleaned off?
I have seen bird droppings etch the clearcoat, but not go all the way through, and I have been able to remove them by hand polishing with 3M new paint polish...

I removed it same day, probably a couple of hours.
