Default Header Leaks

Anyone had any issues with exhaust leaks after the install of headers? I know some if not most are using the factory gaskets instead of the supplied header gaskets. Adding a set this week and it piqued my curiosity on this issue.

normal to have to check header bolt tightness a couple hundred miles after initial install. usually after that they are good, but I always check mine periodically to be safe. normal on all cars/applications.

if the flanges downstream are loose, that's a little less typical, but still possible. just have to retighten them.

That sounds logical... Thanks, Higgs.

Back in the day we used to run 2 sets of gaskets you can use the stock metal gaskets against the head and the header gaskets against the header.

They also have header bolt locks, they lock with simple tabs that go on the header bolts they won't let bolts turn on their own from vibration..

I put in the ARP header studs bolts. pain in the azz to get the back one's in on both sides. But works great no leaks at all. Plus ARP does like them a lot in price.

Wonder what kind of bolts the suppliers use? I purchased Kooks long tube headers and honestly didn't even look to see what they supplied.
