Default Installed a Procharger!!! Pics and Vids Inside

After driving my z51 for the better part of a year in its stock form I decided it was time for some more power... Thats a lie, I knew from the beginning I would want more power and I've spent most of this last year researching and trying to decide just how I wanted to go about it. So finally after coming up with a plan as well as letting a pile of other cosmetic and aero parts pile up in my garage, I pulled the trigger on a Procharger.

Here is why I decided to go with Procharger. It comes as a complete kit with a tune that, I can now say from experience, drives like stock... Until you put your foot down that is. Also, Ive seen their craftsmanship up close on cars and Harleys alike prior to this and as an added bonus they are based in my home state. I do plan on putting more power down in the future so the fact that their p1sc1 is their entry level blower and is also capable of some ridiculous numbers means thats one less thing I will have to worry about changing. For now though, I'm having too much damn fun just driving the car. Also shout out to Procharger's "24hour" turnaround on the tuning. I sent my factory tune file to them at 4:45 pm on a Thursday evening and received the tuned file an hour later! I was totally expecting to have to wait until Monday to get the file back but they make an effort to get the tunes out before the weekend so no one has to sit on their car waiting for a tune. And I can not stress this enough, the car has absolutely 100% from the factory street manners. You would never know it was anything other than stock until you mash the loud pedal.

So after getting the file from Procharger, I set aside the weekend, myself and some friends locked ourselves in the garage with my 100% stock vette and a pile of parts (and beer) and went to work. I couldn't be more pleased with what emerged.

Here is a vid taken right after the install

Parts List:

P1sc1 W/ Tuner, Helical gearset, Race Inlet, Black Coating, and Vertical Intercooler
Z06 Stage 1 Lip
Z06 Grill
Z06 Tail Lights
ACS Zero1 Rockers
ACS Front Wheel Deflectors
Carbon Flash Emblems (all of them)

grats! How does Procharger come with a tune? They send you a tune and software?? I've seen this posted a few times and just curious how that works.

Its the standard proflo surge valve. I was thinking about getting the race valve but honestly the proflo is the perfect volume for how the car is set up now.

They send a diablo tuner with the kit, you upload your factory tune onto the tuner, transfer the tune onto your pc then email it to Procharger. They send you the modified file back within 24 hours that you then upload to the tuner and flash into the car. And of course it comes with great instructions on how to do all of that!

Congrats. Kuddos to you for doing the work yourself.

What kind of power did it make?

Nicely done, Jake! Car looks great. I'm on the verge of ordering a unit myself for a home installation.

Just a question on the pulley installation which would apply to other kits as well. Any issues getting the pulley bolt broken loose? Also did you use a flywheel lock to torque the Procharger supplied pulley bolt to spec? Care to share your process? Thanks.

It wasnt terrible. Breaking it loose took all of my 220 lbs leaning on a breaker bar from the top of the car. Then it calls for 240ftlbs for the new bolt so make sure you have a wrench capable of that. But I just put the car in 7th and had a buddy stand on the brake when I was breaking it loose and torquing it down.

Question: On really hot and sunny days do you notice the A/C having a tough time cooling since the intercooler is in front of everything? I only ask because in the past I had one and it was tough in south Florida to keep the car cool, like it came from the factory.

I can't say that I've noticed that. I've had my climate control set to 75 on 100* days and it's been plenty cold for me.
I even took the car to an autocross event for grins on a 95* day and every time I hit the ac after each run it blasted cold air. The c7 does a great job of extracting heat from the engine bay. When I get out of the car I can feel hot air from the fan pushing heat out of the hood extractor.

Curious for some more info after a few months on this and how you are doing on heat. I am in Texas and last event I went to was a track event. Many others were overheating but the z51 stayed in the green, transmission temps got up there though. Being in Texas is one of the reasons I am leaning towards the A&A kit, where the intercooler is horizontal and does not block the radiator.

I've had my PC kit on my car for about 14k miles now.

I have had a handful of times where my A/C stopped blowing cold air while sitting still idling. Once I get going it's fine.

My ECT peak at about 220 on a 90+ degree day sitting still. While cruising I'll get it down to about 200-208.

PC does make a horizontal IC also.

To second what runutzzzzz said, Procharger makes a horizontal Intercooler option as well. They have also advertised that they offer the biggest intercoolers available for the c7. Here is a link to their site with some of the testing they did for the different intercooler setups, from what I understand it was pretty extensive.

Hey Jake,

Where did you buy the kit from and what was the delivery time?
So have you had any issues since install?
Have you gotten the car on a dyno and retuned ?
Any tips other than the obvious hard part of taking the crank pulley off?
How long would you say the supercharger install was on its own?
Anything you would have bought differently or done differently?
Did you do an LMR or FSP breather?

As of lately, I am actually 99% sure I am going Procharger, horizontal, self install like yourself. My brother and I are pretty handy and plan on doing it on ramps up front, stands out back on a weekend. Sorry for all the questions!

So I bought the kit from a local shop who happens to be a regional distributor or something for Procharger not to mention I live only a few hours away from Procharger's home office so it took no time at all. What I will say is the turn around time for my emailed tune file is what impressed me most of all, I believe I hit this earlier in the post but it just speaks volumes to their level of customer service.

No issues since install and I havent put a catch can on yet but I more than likely will go with the LMR now that they have relocated the breathers and I like the work they do.

I have not had the car on a Dyno yet but I can say It runs door to door with a stock ZR1. That's with Procharger's own tune that they admit is conservative.

Took myself and two other guys about one full day to tackle this one on a four post lift. It's really straight forward, just time consuming because you pretty much have the entire front end off of the car.

The kit the way I ordered it is a complete sleeper. Only really keen car guys will know what you have under the hood. If you want to really hear the supercharger get the straight cut gears and the Big Red BOV. I like it the way I ordered it because its not obnoxious but there are just random times when you hear the surge valve open up or the faint whistle of the blower which reminds me its there and every time I grin.
