I notice when I pull my car into the garage and put up the top, the audio quality changes significantly, like it has a "top-down mode" and a "top-up mode" and selects between them automatically. Top-up mode SUCKS!!! I want to turn it off and have the system sound like it does with the top down all the time. I don't see that this is specifically laid out in the Bose AudioPilot settings. Has anyone else noticed this, and is there a way to change the settings?
well I don't have my manual with me.....but within the Infotainment system settings (Bose AudioPilot) there are some noise reduction settings such that the system will automatically adjust the volume if/when background noise increase/decrease. If there isn't anywhere so that you can turn off that specific feature.....you may have to turn off the AudioPilot all together.
I haven't messed with the AudioPilot thing yet, but what surprises me is that this top-up vs. top-down thing isn't mentioned in the Infotainment manual, and I've never even seen anyone else mention this. Has anyone else noticed the DRASTIC difference in sound quality that occurs the very second that the convertible top touches the windshield header. I need to try turning off AudioPilot completely, but my guess is that it will probably just default to top-up (crap) mode all the time. Anybody else ever noticed this, or have any thoughts?
Thanks!

Had a C5 convertible and loved it. Had both Boxster and 911 convertibles and always put the top down. However the look of the C7 coupe really is awesome. Also I plan to track the car and you can't do that in a convertible. The convertible looks great with the top down. For me being able to remove the roof is a good compromise for my love of open air driving.

Uuhhh, OK.
So, anybody have any ideas about the difference between the audio of a C7 convertible with the top up and the top down?

I have a convertible and I agree there is a change in the sound quality. I dont use Audio-pilot at all either. But it seems like the audio becomes enhanced and seems to not only louder but cleaner in sound quality. Bass seems to hit harder also which is surprising because the top's off and you would think you'd lose that aspect a little.
I know I dont have your answer but your not alone.

Thanks...good to know there's not something wrong with my car, at least. I did check the AudioPilot settings and noticed I had already turned it off. Frustrating...I wish I could actually have control over the settings in MY car!
Is the difference still noticeable when the car is OFF, with the top up or down? Maybe something to do with the noise cancelling system.
I have a coupe but noticed when opening the door the bose noise cancelling stops(while car is on). I unplugged the mic in the door panel to always have this off, also this was needed when adding a aftermarket subwoofer as the cancellation adds all sorts of low frequency bass notes, even with the radio off.

Interesting, I will check this out. Thanks for the tip!!
