Default Stolen key

I had a key stolen, what do i need to do so the key won't work again. Do I need two new keys made and delete the other two, or just one key?

Yes, you can have the car "forget" all fobs and learn the one(s) you have. See the "Programming without a Recognized Transmitter" section in your manual. A dealer visit seems to be required in Canada.

You can buy a new fob and program it to your car. The metal key needs to be bought through a dealer with your VIN.

Obviously, the stolen metal key will still work to open the rear hatch / trunk.

So once I forget all keys and get new keys , they won't be able to steal it even with the metal key working ?

Correct. The metal key only gets you access into the hatch / trunk where you can then access the manual driver's door release.

And u can order a new lock cyl for the hatch, with 2 keys. Be sure to record the key code supplied with the cylinder. A drill and pop rivet gun will be needed

Post #5 eliminates the thief from getting in your car.

I assume you lost the RKE and it was attached to the Key?

Buy a new RKE, use the "Long Procedure" in this link to program your 2 RKEs and the original RKE is useless on your car.

Default Stolen key

If someone took the lost metal key and fob, they could relearn the old fob back to the car if you haven't replaced the lock cylinder. It would be be a pain to do, but if it were my car I would think about replacing the key and cylinder.

For right now if you don't want the key to work in the hatch, take off the linkage from the lock cyl.

When you get the new cyl you can put it on, until then you can use the electric to open the hatch and drive the car.

If someone took the whole fob, I think you can have yours reprogrammed.

That happened on my brothers car, they lost the honda fob, the Honda reprogrammed the spare fob then the stolen fob would not work.

Agree with the others if the fob was actually stolen instead of just lost then you definitely need to replace the cylinder in addition to erasing the old fob programming.

When my daughter was an infant we were on a father daughter camping trip and somewhere along the way I am pretty sure I threw a fob for my pickup in the garbage along with a used diaper. I was getting ready to take off from a rest area when a change was suddenly needed so I already had the key out and it was several hundred miles later when I realized I only had one fob since I usually travel with two. In this case it was for my 2006 pickup which uses a real key for the ignition but I didn't bother with a new lock since I wasn't really worried about that particular key catching up with my pickup again

thank you guys for all you help, so what ill end up doing is, re program the only key i have left, and get a new fob/program it, also i think i would feel more comfortable changing the cylender lock, is it hard to install?.. now if they "re program" my current key and disable the stolen key would they still be able to re learn it even if we disable it?

Ok, let's get our terms straight. They don't program the key. The key is cut to the new lock and you can't program it. What is programmed is the RKE (Old term is FOB). You will need to get a new RKE, then with both of the RKEs far away from the car, you start the long program in the link that I posted. When it says "Ready to Program RKEs 1-8, then go get the RKEs and the first one you place in the slot becomes #1. After it is programmed, Press the unlock button, then you inset the 2nd RKE and it becomes #2. You then press the unlock button on the 2nd RKE and terminate the programming process (instructions are in the link). You then have a new hatch cylinder with a new Key (old key is useless) and you have 2 RKEs that will remember your personal settings for each RKE and if you add a 3rd, the RKE will NOT remember personal settings and you would need to adjust stuff each time you get in the car. The original stolen RKE will not work on the car after you do the long program.

You could always have the dealer do this stuff but I'm guessing a couple hundred dollars would be needed for their "labor".
