Default Heads & Cam or Meth next?

Hey guys, so I have a ECS kit and ARH Headers right now making 586whp at 7psi on 91 octane.

My question for you guys is for my next step. I don't want to start replacing internals, so I want to keep it in the 670-700whp range. Do I do heads and cam? Or do I add meth and take out the restrictor plate? This car is a DD during the warm months.

Pro's and cons of each option?

Your options are really both or just meth, not one or the other. Well unless you would want to drive on race fuel all the time. There is not enough octane in pump gas to support 700 rwhp with the C7's compression.

So I would suggest just adding meth and pull the restrictor plate.

If you don't want to do internals, then heads and cam are out IMO. To do a non-DOD cam, you have to go down to the short block which is a few steps removed from a complete build. Said this in another thread, but if you go to that length, spending another 2k on pistons is such a small drop in the large bucket that you should skimp.

Meth has it's own downside, but a much cheaper next step that can easily be reversed if you are not happy.

Sounds pretty clear. Thanks guys.

It's my understanding I will need another container for the meth somewhere in the vehicle then. I need the washer fluid container so I won't be using that as I seen others had done.

We usually use the washer tank for meth and add a separate smaller tank for washer fluid. Washer fluid is not used anywhere near as much on a Vette typically and then it comes up on the dash "washer fluid low" when you are low on meth.

Ohhh ok that makes a lot of sense actually. Thanks Doug. Always helpful. Love your S/C kit btw. It's really amazing and was a breeze to install.
