Default Help with Flowmaster exhaust issue please?

My dealer is trying to install Flowmasters PN#817668 on my 2015 A8 Stingray with No Dual Mode Exhaust. The new flowmasters have slick pipes and no where to mount the module that is on the stock pipes. They are claiming that without plugging into this module for AFM on the Flowmasters, I will get a check engine light.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Is it to late to return the flow master and get a better brand like borla or corsa, even the factory NPP that are stainless...Flow master has a terrible drone.. Hope it works out for you.

Edit.. Looks like that flow master system is stainless

I have the Flowmasters on my 2014 C7 A6 non-NPP.
They should have the mounting brackets for the AFM, mine did.
Mine works perfectly, sounds great, absolutely no drone, much better than stock.
I did throw a CEL for a day or two until the car learned the better flowing exhaust, no CEL ever since.

Do you have a pic of the exhaust you have?? If you look in the video they have of the exhaust on youtube you see the mounting plates for the AFM. But when you look on sites selling the exhausts, they don't...very strange. Sounds like you may have gotten an early production of the system. They'll probably let you ship it back to them and they'll weld the plates on...either way, I don't think I would trust it very much.

Thanks all for your input. I have part number 817668 and there are no brackets for AFM on the flowmaster pipes. The dealer already had my car apart so I told them to install the new flowmasters. Hope I am not making a big mistake. I called Flowmaster in CA last night and they were not helpful at all and recommended I send pipes back to the retailer through Amazom which does not fix the issue of this Flowmaster PN not meeting the description and fit on my vehicle.

Assuming I get a CEL, any recommendations for getting rid of it?

From what I've read, you can tune it out which is not very easy plus it will definitely void the warranty. Below is a link to another thread where some forum members are discussing the AFM's due to the fact that many have melted them from overheating during runs on the track.

Default update!

Dallas, at our local Chevy dealer did a great job with install. Even though flowmasters were screwed up with no brackets, Dallas removed AFM modules, attached plugs, and secured them under vehicle. Mufflers sound great and no CELs. Shame on flowmaster for not having a compatible part but claiming it was for my vehicle. Another Unsat for flowmaster for being absolutely no help on the phone. Their only suggestion was to send pipes back to retailer even though this was clearly a manufactory problem and design flaw.

From the picture of the flowmasters it looks like there are no valves and the bracket is just to mount the AFM module.

So with the AFM module hooked plugged in but not attached to a valve your not receiving any CELs?

Can you confirm this after 3 or more start-ups?

AFM actuators need to be connected but do not have to operate an actual valve. If they strapped them up under the car you should be fine. Same procedure with the NPP, if you have it and the new system does not, where you strap the actuators up under the car.

I have had American Thunder on other cars... a lot of other cars. You need to let them 'settle in' over a few hundred miles then you'll get a better idea of the sound when cruising, cruising in 4 cly mode, and highway.

I've had many different exhausts on my past C6 Vettes...

Corsa, B&B, Borla, Magnaflow, NPP, etc...

I love the Flowmasters on my 2014 C7.
How can you complain especially at the price point.
I got mine for under $750 shipped to my door.
They sound as good or better than any of the others I've had.

When I see $2000 plus for a catback
