Default Question about my ECS tune

Had American racing LTs with cats and tune, but now have no control of my NPP exhaust, its open all the time. Dont get me wrong the car sounds wicked and runs great, but i need to be able to lower the db level at times.

Help Doug

Im close to their shop so im not worried, just want to know what step to take here.

MagnaFlow just came out with their new muffler that works with the stock exhaust flap control via the NAV.

Odd. I had them do a SC, Alky, headers and tune but I still have control of my NPP. I'm sure they will address. ECS is the BEST!

Perhaps the NPP fuse number 41 on 14's and 42 on 15's was pulled? If so, the valves will remain open, and will not close.

All changes as far as I know were done with the tune, so I hope Doug remembers if that is what it is before I start climbing under the car looking at cables haha

A tune doesn't alter the NPP functionality - at least none that's ever been reported. I'd check the fuse as mentioned above or look at the connectors at the actuators.

Once you figure it out, you may want to do what some of us have done and add an on-off manual switch to the NPP circuit. That way you can be a badass when you choose!

This is what we discussed this morning, but I'll be glad to put his stock file back in it to confirm for him.

no access to npp in the tune.

check the fuses or check the option to keep the npp open more often in the center display

Thanks Higgs, fuses are fine, checked those along with the wire connections . Doug said he will reload my factory tune and see if that has a result and then go from there. This one has me scratching my head.

did you check your settings in the radio display? you are sure it isn't set to "off" rather than "mode based" (or whatever they call it)

Yes, first thing I checked. It's been this way since Carlisle and it's either something disconnected that I can't find, or when the afm valves are made to be open all the time as the tune was set up, affected the NPP for some reason even though everyone says it shouldn't. Could be a change from '14 to '15 models . Mines a 15

if your npp valves are disconnected there should be a code that cannot be disabled through the ecm, which is all a tune affects (and the tcm). if there is no cel, i would think everything is connected properly.

so i guess i don't know what it is, let us know when you find out.

I'm taking it in Friday morning.... Doug will find the issue I have no fear. Then I'll post the cure. Even if it's my imagination and I need a therapist instead of a tuner .

Ok, so the origional tune is back in, and as we all thought, still no NPP function. No codes in the system, so to the dealer it goes. Will post when its resolved and what is was in case it will help anyone else. Then off to ECS for some boost right after.

Update... Well dealer said the the control module (one of the ones in the hatch that controls the valves has a weak voltage..... Gotta bring it back for them to hunt the problem. Any ideas anyone lol? I'm gonna check the fuse box connections under the hood ( the Lego blocks) since they were removed and reinstalled for the headers.

My dealer informed me that having headers installed would void the warranty with any
Problems due to the exhaust.Maybe all dealers aren't the same.

That's why u need to find a mod friendly dealer near you, don't get me wrong, if I blow my motor , I know I have to pay after the tune. I'll also pay for this problem if I have to.

Problem was found and fixed. It appears that when I had the ARH headers installed at Carlisle, that when they were putting the fuse box back together, they bent 2 pins. Im picking it up tonight. Im happy that its fixed, not happy it cost me another 200 dollars to fix an install problem.
