Hey guys, a few weeks back I saw a post discussing the overheating issues a few people have had with these a8's. In that posts comments someone was discussing a company who designed larger trans coolers along with a secondary trans cooler for the a8, also larger trans pan for the a6 and we're working on producing larger pans for the a8. I have searched for hours looking for this post to no avail, and I've searched on google just as long. Can someone please point me in the correct direction, I would like to buy the coolers asap.
I have an a8, just got the first ever custom torque convertor from circle d, for the a8, meaning a lot of extra heat which will need to be removed. I appreciate your quick responses.
I'll give then a call as soon as I get my car back out of the shop, that's an install I can easily do myself. I've also read a few posts on here with guys putting heat wrap around their exhaust where it's next to the transmission and that was lowing trans Temps 18-25 degrees than normal while tracking the car, so that's another thing I'll do to try and help the cause.

Let me tell you. I tried the warp and it doesn't do anything to help lowering the temp. Don't waste your time. I already took it off. I also had Z06 intake scoops and again nothing helped. Let's put it this way. I was overheating the transmission in 3 laps in 65 ambient temp on the track. I found a corvette race shop in So Cal (excelsior motorsport) and they installed a whole new cooling system with massive Setrab coolers up front, steel braided lines, aerospace fittings, and heat insulation on the lines as well as thermostats to maintain operating temperature during normal driving. Now my transmission temp doesn't exceed 180F on the canyons and normal driving. Depending on the race track and ambient temperature it can be anywhere from 220F to 240F at the end of the session. I can do full 25 min sessions on the track in 90F ambient with no problems and the transmission temp will immediately drop to 200F as I am exiting the road course at the end of the session. I believe my C7 is the first and maybe only A8 with aftermarket cooling (I could be wrong). Another member contacted me and he is working with Setrab USA on a similar solution.

I did this also in the rear pipe, I also have headers on my car I put the heat wrap on the header tube's next to the oil cooler on the drivers side. It does help on the temp's..

What stall ? Did someone tune your A8 ? How does it feel etc. etc.....

I have the LG stage 2 system. Bigger cooler, larger capacity pan. One track day with and it did keep me on the track for all 6 sessions. Supposed to have another track day this Saturday, but the forecast is 100% rain all weekend in the d/fw area. I believe the LG solution is only for the A6 which I have.

Spent the weekend at Sonoma Raceway last weekend. Rain and abbreviated sessions on Saturday, so that day doesn't count. Beautiful NorCal day Sunday, with temps high 70's/low 80's. DEI titanium wrap alongside the transmission and back. Highest temp after 30 mins on track was 235. Had seen 275+ at Willow Springs under same ambients. Although good - and I am very pleased - now looking into a ceramic coating on the exhaust, and would follow that by wrapping again.

Wrapping didn't do it for me as the case for many 2015 Z51 A8 owners. I hear mixed feedback about ceramic coating and how they would eventually crack the pipes since they retain too much heat and they don't make that much of a difference. No disrespect, I have also ran my car a whole 25 minutes session without getting to limp mode when I was going 20 sec a lap slower and staying in upper gears. When I used to drive at advance pace, the transmission would overheat in 3 laps (with pipes being warped and having Z06 scoops) Nothing helped until I went with a complete aftermarket solution. Now I can run the car comfortably in 90F + ambient shifting at right before red line with no issues. I don't have to hold back anymore.
There is some good news for 2015 A8 Z51 owners and 2014 A6 owners that wanna track their cars, I just spoke with GM district manager and Corvette brand quality manager. They both confirmed the release of the auxiliary transmission cooler kit similar to the transmission cooler on the Z06 A8 by Dec to January for sure. The development group is putting the final touches on the retrofit kit which will be sold through the GM performance line for anyone that want to track their car.

Good news indeed. Any idea if these kits will be made available for installation by the dealer at no cost? Or will this be a DIY project on our own dime?

I was told yes, the dealer will install it. They didn't say anything about it being free. There are tons of us with open case with GM regarding transmission overheating and we have been promised a solution. I doubt that they would try to take advantage of this by charging arm and a leg so I am assuming the cost would be some what reasonable.
I PM'd LG Motorsports about a larger A8 Tranny pan, when they promoted their Tranny cooling options a month or so ago, like the one they developed for the A6. They replied that they hadn't yet gotten an A8 pan to use to develop one, as GM doesn't sell them separately from the A8 tranny and GM has all failed A8 trannie's returned to them if they warranty it.
While I haven't done it myself, I'm told that to wrap the exhaust properly, it is much easier to do a better job if you remove it from the vehicle to do the wrapping.
I installed a B&M cast aluminum pan on my A6--Part number 70391--It was designed to fit a 2010-2014 Camaro----However after looking at the clearance it did fit easily--Only issue is that it sits about 1-2 inches lower--But so far I haven't scraped it yet--It add apprx 2 qts of fluid--but has massive finning both inside and out and so far it has dropped the time that my trans reaches 200* by 20-30 minutes of city drivivng or spirited driving--On a day under 100* in will never go beyond 180*
If I were to go further I would install a Derale or B&M fan kit 10x14 with thermostat for the fan that comes on at 185* It is again an easy install tapping into the 3/8" lines in the left rear quarter panel area---The cooler will fit perfectly onto the bottom side on the rear cargo area floor just above the exhaust piping----and wire directly to ground anywhere and onto your battery positive terminal---
