Default Brake Dust Problem C7 Base Question

I am having a lot of brake or rotor dust on my base 2015 ZF1. I added carbon ceramic brakes and am still getting a good deal of black dust on the black wheels even though I clean them up every week. Is this a pad problem or should I get a different kind of ceramic brakes. It's a real PITA. Brake people say its the Rotors. Any help would be very appreciated.

When you say you added carbon ceramic brakes do you mean pads, or did you change out the rotors? The stock base rotors and pads have no dust issue, so if you just changed pads that's where to fix the problem.

If you changed the rotors, I have no experience with those, so can't help.

You need a low dust pad, but I don't think those will help you, because the low dust ceramic pads give off a whitish dust.

The brake dust is hardly noticeable on my silver wheels, I think it might be able to be seen on black wheels.

Please elaborate on your addition of carbon ceramic brakes?

Default Carbon ceramic brake pads reply

It was the brake pads that were put on. They are carbon ceramic.

Default brand of pads?

Can you please tell us exactly what brand and part number you installed? Most of us are tracking solutions to the problem.

The pads aren't carbon ceramic... They're just (potentially) called ceramic. As asked above, please post the brand and model of pads that you had installed.

The OEM pads on base C7 brakes you have on the ZF1 are not reported to be dusty at all. It's really only the folks with Z51 (or Z06 steel rotors) that report the OEM pads to be dusty.

Those of us with Z51 have used the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 almost exclusively to reduce dust (I have). Not completely gone, but most (like me) report 2-3x less dust with no loss of OEM braking performance for street use. I still have to clean my wheels, but the gloss black wheels will show any brake dust, so the problem isn't completely gone, just reduced.

I am not sure if the 1521 is available for C7 base brakes.

I'm thinking its the brand pad you put on causing your issue
