Default Axle shaft tech info needed

Called the dealer today to order a passenger side half shaft to install on the drivers side since it's a bit larger. Roughly $300 which is fine but, according to the dealership, there is a first design and a second design. Does anyone know if the second design is an upgrade or just an insignificant difference? If any improvement has been made, I'd like to know about it.

I'm not sure but I have a passenger side out of my 15 a8 that I'd sell for $150 shipped.

Well I can promise you, the dealer is usually the last one that would know. Just my experience. I'm sure some are knowledgeable.

Ok. Thanks for that option. I'm still trying to gather facts about the two versions. I may be in touch shortly.

Are you worried about more wheel hop going to equal diameter shafts?

No. The only time I accelerate that hard from a stand still is at the drag strip with drag tires. The burnout in the water box would be the only time it would be possible. If it wheel hops then, I'll let off and try plan b.

My DR's aren't in yet, but are you saying that wheel hop is greatly reduced? I will be on 18" rims.

Wheel hop won't happen in a dead hook. It never has with me anyway. Hopefully your drag radials will eliminate any tire spin. 18's are a smart decision. Gives you a ton of options and just a little more sidewall.

The c7's being hollow is more of a problem than the overall size. Thanks for the info.
