HMI 2.5/2.0/1.1/1.0 Specifications & Radio Firmware Versions

If anyone has a way up upgrading my 2014 Z51 HMI and radio module with Carplay and the quicker interface for about $500 please let me know because I'm all in at that price. I have a 3LT with Nav and mag ride. One question though, do you lose the Drive Mode selector on the screen? With those other places that charge $1000-$1200 for a new HMI and programming, you lose this feature on the 2014 models. Please PM with info.

If the MY19 Harman units are anything like the units they build for Subaru, they're running QNX rather than Linux.
Here's an excellent read on rooting a Subaru unit. It goes into a lot of detail on the OS.
https://github.com/sgayou/subaru-sta.../doc/README.md
The C7 instrument cluster also runs QNX.

Here's that Bosch paper I was talking about earlier. Page 3 mentions their GENIVI implementations.
https://www.genivi.org/sites/default...16%20Final.pdf
I think the Bosch generations map to GM HMIs like so:
Pre-GEN = GM HMI NG 1.1 (first gen Cadillac CUE)
GEN 1 = GM HMI NG 2.0 (MY2014-15 all models)
GEN 2 = GM HMI NG 2.5 (MY2016-2019, all models)
GEN 3 = Not used by GM?
https://www.genivi.org/sites/default...16%20Final.pdf
Pre-GEN is based on the Real Time Operation System T-Engine. Linux is not used nor does GENIVI compliance apply.
GEN1 comprises two operating systems in parallel, T-Engine and Linux for the Multimedia Domain. Early GENVI 2.0 compliance achieved.
GEN2 is based on Linux and complies with GENVI 5.0.
GEN3 is the evolution from GEN2 with additional hypervisor technology running GENIVI 7.0 complaint Linux

The model you linked to the FCC above is a Harman INFO 3 used in the GMC Terrain & Terrain Denali so checking out one of those vehicles may give an idea of what they're like. It looks to be a MY18/19 used unit. There's another newer 2AHPN-BE2843 filed Jan 2019 that's under a 6 month short term confidentiality request which hides the external & internal photos along with the user's manual which expires mid/late June 2019.
https://fccid.io/2AHPN-BE2843
They're required to show the label image though which shows this is a GM specific unit and is an unreleased Harman INFO3.5 unit which from seeing job postings on Linkdin are for MY20/21/22 cars. I'm going to get the part numbers off the existing documents to get an idea of what hardware is in these.

Looks like it's mostly a new UI and SD card based navigation. I've heard they also implement the new 5-byte seed/key algo GM introduced in 2017.
Fun fact. The Bosch units don't implement any seed/key functionality.

It's worth noting that the Bosch HMI units are being phased out starting with some 2019 model year cars. There's nothing on the Bosch open source page past MY2019. As best I can tell, version 17.0B075 is the end of the line.
I don't know who makes the new module, but it appears to combine both the radio and the HMI into a single unit. This is the only picture I've been able to find.

That's cool. Nice find. That second one is cheap. Makes me wish I had an interest in taking one apart.

This is interesting. Especially since it's four years old. That gives you an idea of how long the lead times are on this stuff.

So now that begs the question. Are these new units running QNX, like the Subaru system, or are they on Android?

Harman won a $900 million contract from GM to build the system, and judging by Harman CEO's description, this is an actual embedded Android system that will power the entire infotainment setup. That typically includes the audio system, air conditioning, navigation, voice recognition, phone calls, reverse cameras, and Internet access.

Are the 2018/2019 Corvette's still using the Bosch units or are they now these combined Harman devices?
I don't believe it's Android but if I can find the OSS for Harman then I'll be able to see. If these are GNIVI like the Bosch were that doesn't run on top of Android. Android was a route some of them were going back then but nearly all of those devices died except for cheap knock off radios. Google now has Android Automotive (not Android Auto) which the Volvo Polestar that just came out is the first car to run that.
::EDIT::
Android Automotive is now part of GENIVI.
https://at.projects.genivi.org/wiki/...Automotive+SIG
::EDIT 2::
It is Android, specifically Android 6.0.1 (which is old as dirt but might bee some sort of LTS version I'll look into that). There's a Wi-Fi Alliance certification for INFO3.5 device. "Operating System Android, version: 6.0.1" It also shows the unit has WiFi N & AC (now called WiFi 5 & 6)

Along with a LinkdIn profile of a INFO3.5 for GM Project Manager at Harman. "Software development and delivery responsible for GM Info3.5 infotainment platform solution based on Android"

You say that when upgrading from version 2.0 to version 2.5, you lose the drive mode settings. I understand correctly? You can not change them from the screen as in version 2.0
If this is the case, then I recommend trying to replace SilverBox with the version from the car with 2.5.
Be surprised by the result.
I ask this question, because we do not have similar cars, but on other brands of cars we are faced with this problem as well

If all the machines were assembled in one place for programming, then I would be able to hem them on your blocks remotely. We work this way with other countries.
There is no difference for us, this is a new block or shot from another machine.

He wrote that he made an upgrade from 2.0 to 2.5. I gave the answer for the upgrade with the transition from 2.0 to 2.5.
With this transition from 2.0 to 2.5, you need to change SilverBox. The same thing happens on the Opel Insignia and Buick Regal
