I found this while looking for information about the so-called "Transmission Service Fast Learn" process that is supposed to be conducted after "any" A8 transmission repair.
Some websites also include a process for the A8 using the word "adaptive" and then go on to describe a set of explicit driving operations to be performed to allow an A8 to "learn" how to shift better.
This is the best of many web articles/presentations I have seen on the subject of the A8 (8L90).
My lack of knowledge of the need to perform this "adaptive" process after a software upgrade was applied by a Chevy dealer probably explains why I did not see any real benefit from the software upgrade.
I just tried to post the link and it still didn't work so the forum software must not like that url for some reason. Just type the url in or copy and paste it. That worked for me.
I plan to perform these procedures in the weeks ahead and will report on this forum any results, good or bad.
I just wish the Hell that the dealer who applied the software upgrade to the transmission had either performed the procedure or at least told me that I needed to perform it.
Unfortunately, I just tried to access the 8L90 presentation/paper using Ktoonsez's link and landed on an ATRA webpage that said that the "Requested resource not found".
For those interested in getting a copy of this piece, perhaps a call to ATRA(website address in precious postings to this thread) may work.
I wish you luck on that one.

This procedure is a real crock of crap, the dealership put over 400 miles on my car trying this learn procedure before finally replacing the transmission. It's GM's way of trying to cover up the early A8 problems.
The presentation is still available. It is the link that doesn't work. Copy and paste the URL into a new browser tab and you'll get the document.

What you are looking for is GM # 14-07-30-001C "Information On Transmission Adaptive Functions And Correcting Low Milage Harsh Shifts -Jan 27th,2015). This supercedes bulletin version A and version B
I have a 2015 C7 ,A8, built August 2014 with a harsh shift 1-2 first drive of the day.
The bulletin says for cars built prior to Sept 29th 2014 the service bay re-flash (GDS 2 procedure) will NOT work and the drive/learn procedure must be done. As my car was built prior to Sept 29th 2014 I did the very lengthy drive/learn procedure 2 times and it did not work.
The way I got the A8 bulletin was I called the selling dealer service manager and asked him to e-mail me the bulletin, which he did.

.......hope this helps, Doug.
From what I have read and learned, this procedure hasn't worked for anyone. Just smoke and mirrors from GM for a poorly built transmission.
