For whatever reason GM mounted the electric fan covering about 2/3 of the core face. The upper 1/3 is ducted up and out from the hood. This got me to thinking. What if we moved the fan up to cover all the core face, and eliminated the the duct. Now the fan will pull through 100% of the core, and ALL of the engine compartment heat would be pulled out through the hood vent, not just the portion that went through the top of the radiator. Seems like a better way to go.
If this doesn't work with the stock fan, we could create a shroud with a 17" Spal fan similar to this one.
I'd be willing to work with a volunteer on something.
Id be down to test one for you. I am a high hp pro-charged C7.
Well I don't have anything yet. I was just throwing it out there to see what you guys thought. I think you could accomplish this without buying anything. Move the fan up and remove the duct. Race it and see what happens

I was running my car with the duct removed for most of the summer. I only put it back as I was concerned about the rains falling through the opened hood vent and potentially shorting out an electrical connection.
Not sure if the larger fan would do much as the fan is only important in slow or stop and go traffic. My temperatures have stayed low even on 100F days under those conditions. It is the high RPM running that needs improvement, chiefly from an oil cooler. Still waiting for your solution in that regard.
