Default Track junkie with base C7

Long story short, my wife bought herself a 2016 A8 base C7 with mag ride and NPP. I scared the S out of her demonstrating the speed of the C7 lol. So she started driving my 2014 Camaro 1LE. After her first trip to work she texted me,"OMG I LOVE this car!". And I inherited a brand new base C7. I have become fully aware of how much work I now have to do as I love the track. The 1LE was my first track car to replace decades of Motorcycle roadracing. So my questions are, will I upset the balance of the car going to Z51 sway bars as my mag ride was not calibrated for them? Will chevy ever allow a base car to download the better traction control algorithms if for no other reasons than safety? What would be a good pad to run in the base brakes untill I have the funds for a complete brake upgrade?

Thanks,
Robert

Both are nice cars congrats.. As far as pads the tire will be your factor if you plan on using the stock tire for track use I would suggest going with Carbotech XP12 front and XP10 rear this set up is safe on the street and will take a great deal of heat on track. yes, you will have some brake noise on the street. If you are willing to swap pads for street and track than get the 1521's for street use.

The beauty of Carbotech pads is all Carbotech compounds are compatible with each other. So, you can run the 1521 street pad that is quiet and performs like stock on the street and than just swap pads and go to the XP series pads on the same rotor no re bedding required or anything just swap pads and go.. Definitely going to need to up grade brake fluid. If interested I will be happy to help you.

Carbotech™ XP12™

Another highly successful XP™ series compound with an excellent initial bite, torque and fade resistance over and above the XP10™ compound. XP12™ has temperature range of 250°F to 1850°F+ (121°C to 1010°C+). The XP12™ has that excellent Carbotech™ release and modulation that has made all other Carbotech™ compounds so successful. The XP12™ is more rotor aggressive than XP10™, but compared to the competition the XP12™ is still very rotor friendly. XP12™ is NOT recommended for use as a daily driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise.

Carbotech™ XP10™

When Carbotech™ unleashed the XP10™ to the general public it immediately gathered multiple regional, divisional, and national championships. The XP10™ has a very strong initial bite with a coefficient of friction and rotor friendliness unmatched in the industry. Fade resistance is in excess of 1475°F (801°C). XP10™ still maintains the highly praised release, excellent modulation and rotor friendliness that have made all Carbotech™ compounds so successful. Carbotech™ XP10™ is not recommended as a daily-driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise.

Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

Not sure what swaybars the '06 base comes with (rear or not?) but, the best option for you would be to get the '15 Z51 swaybar set for the mag option. They measure 28mm front and 31mm rear. The non-mag bars are the same up front but, only 26mm at the rear. For tracking the 31mm works much better. After having both, I finally went with aFe bars as for me the front Z51 28mm bar was not large enough, allowing more softness at the turn-in than what I preferred. The aFe uses 35mm front.
