Default Help tire issues at COTA

My new pilot sport cup 2s are wearing out fast. Is there any tire managing tips so I can run on Sunday and drive home 260 miles? Air pressure? Temperatures? Could I put c6 Hoosiers and rims on with spacers? Thanks

COTA is a pretty fast track with some aggressive corners. My friend and I were both there last week, and we both ended our weekend early by cording tires. Granted, we both had pretty worn tires to begin with but there is a long sweeping right, T15-18 that was killer on my car with limited camber. Just keep an eye on your tires after each session and you should be able to tell if you have enough left to get you home.

I haven't been to COTA yet, but I decided to go with a full track alignment, using 2+ degrees of camber up front, before every track weekend. Then I revert back to stock alignment afterward for the street. It costs extra, but the tires last a lot longer and I can run faster and more confidently.

I also use the GM alignment specs, but bought a set of 18" Interlagos wheels and installed a set of used Yokohama slicks. Less than $2000 all in, and they make the Turn 16-18 section lots of fun. G's peak around 1.7 in those corners, with lap times in the 2:38's. PM me if you want to buy my track setup. I am thinking about selling the car and building a track only C5 Z06.
