Default C7 8L90 Transmission

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know if there is anyone out there beefing up the 8L90 transmissions? I've been doing research, but I'm not finding anyone doing it. I'm looking to beef up the stock 8L90 to handle more power and torque than a stock one does. I'd like to retain the 8L90 if possible.

Thanks!

Called Exedy yet? My guess would be they are in the works with something but could be a minute if they havent pushed anything out yet. Not sure on ur goals. Im kinda in the same boat on my mustangs built 6R80, even with built every thing its stilll not gonna hold 1500whp. TH400 is the next step or some will try to coax u into a glide but honestly i think both of those will kill the DD nature of ur car if thats what ur shooting for.

Yeah I agree totally. I want to maintain DD of the car. Thanks for the info. Like you I need something in the 1200 rwh range 😀

Stay away from Glides then, hold out and wait on what aftermarket does with the 8spd.
I'd call Circle D and explain to them what ur goals r, they will be able to spec u an awesome converter too, lotta stuff that's not on a website especially when ur pushing nice juicy numbers like we are talking about. I'm not 100% sure but u will be testing the boundaries at 1200whp of this new stock 8spd trans and be prepared to have some issues arise It took the tuners and exedy 4-5 years to get a solid hold of the 6R80 I run in my Boss and every time I turn around on FB They keep getting deeper in 8's, last I think 8.4 @ 165mph by my boy Sai Li. I'm 99% sure the C7 CAN produce the same results especially being our C7's are easily 200-350+lbs lighter that the 11-14 mustangs. No reason we
Shouldn't start seeing guys with 160-170mph C7's that DD them once we get a few more things figured out. We definitely need more support from the aftermarket on the C7 that's for sure or we will just keep chasing our tails.
