Love the car, dislike the brake dust. However, before I switch out the brake pads, I created a tool that makes cleaning the wheels "somewhat" easier.
Since the rear wheels (Z51 package with 19"/20") have enough clearance to get my hand between between the caliper and wheel barrel, I only need to jack up the front wheels.
I cut out a jacking puck from a 2 by 4.
The cleaning tool is nothing more than a microfiber towel cut into strips and tied around a wooden dowel. Before tying the strips, I covered the dowel with a strip from the microfiber towel to prevent the dowel from scratching the wheels. And yes, you can buy these type of tools, but why buy when you can create your own.
I also created a "poker tool" to push a microfiber towel into tight spots. As for wheel cleaning solutions...I've tried Dawn dishwashing liquid, Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner, and Griot's Garage Speed Shine and Spray Wax. I have yet to apply any "wheel wax" to the wheels, although this would certainly provide some additional protection.
And finally, I recently applied Armor All's Wheel Protectant spray to my wheels. Not sure how long it will last, but until the new pads are installed, it will due for now.
Couple things I do is clean the rims, Use Adam's Paint Sealant and then spray them with Quick Sealant. I also use the Blue brush that was talked about in earlier post of this thread
