Noise at idle
Cold or warmed engine, there is a noise (more noticeable in the cabin) at idle that has a metallic churning sound. From outside the car, difficult to hear, but it does not appear to come from beneath the hood. (NPP set to open.) Does not sound like the dry sump noise that some describe nor the fuel pump noise. Had not heard it before.
I searched the posts and did not see a reference to it.
Thoughts?

I had some ideas on what it might be if you were not stock, like headers. I would just take it in if you are 100% stock. If it does it all the time it should be something they can find easy.

Yes, that is our second GT.
I have filmed the car/noise, but it is less audible on video than when near the car.
Also, how do you upload a video (rather than a photo) here? Thank you.

You'll need to upload the video to some where like Youtube and link the youtube video here.
if you upload it to Youtube make sure during the steps for uploading you make the video public and not private so others can view it once it uploads.

Would determining the location of the noise help isolate/identify whether it is HPFP or tensioner?
As noted, the noise is audible at idle, in motion, in gear, in neutral or park.

tensioner noise on passenger side front of engine and HPFP is rear of engine and under the intake manifold.

was wondering if anyone found the source of the noise you experienced? I'm getting the exact same sound as you have described. The dealer is scratching their collective heads on the cause. I've seen a lot of threads that inquire about this type of noise at idle speed, but no definitive or consistent resolution. It seems there are many potential causes, i.e., fuel pump, DI, torque tube, tensioner, etc. but haven't seen any resolution for the sound issue we are having. If you have yours fixed please let me know what they did. My z51 is at the dealer waiting for GM engineering to get back with them before they start ripping into the engine.
Thanks!

Yes, short explanation: It was a known problem with the torque tube.
Service tech recognized the source immediately. All is well. Hope that helps.

It sounded to my ears like ball bearings in a tin can, a distinctly metallic sound.
This is a bit more complex to describe, but I shall try.
The service manager is a great guy, deeply invested and very respectful.
However, there was no one to look at and listen to the car for several days. It was immediately known as a torque tube problem.
Son of however, the parts then needed to be ordered so quite a few days lapsed before they came in.
However, Part III, we were not next in line for repair for another few days.
Total lapse time was just shy of three weeks before the car was ready for pickup.
Again, the outcome was good, the problem solved, treated very well by service manager.
We have enjoyed have the Corvette back and that the problem was resolved.
