Supercharge it and be done. Yes you give up warranty, but still your entrance price is cheaper than the gt-r. Vetts seem to be pretty problem free in most regards so warranty being lost really shouldn't be an issue, plus you saved plenty on funds to cover issues... Just my 2 cents.

For ppl who get it (and there a bunch that do) thanks for advice, and I think the z06 is the way (which is 20K more).

TBH I love this vette on the backroads; much better than the GTR which was already pretty good. Drove it this weekend here and it really impressed.
Hey MD2020, the C7 manual Z51 will run 12.0 when driven correctly, evidently you cannot. Any one can drive a AWD automatic car fast in a straight line. Need skill to do it in any manual 2wd car.

[QUOTE=dovervold;1592034951]md2020, where are you headed with this thread man??? Sounds like you don't like your Corvette, and GTR's, modded GT's, 370's, and M3's are quicker Let's end this rubbish. 1. Just enjoy your new Vette. 2. Sell it and move on.

---

What I was getting at is this car is weak in one area.Take it for what it us: informed criticism. I'd sell it but there isnt anything under 65k that performs better.

My 370z was almost as fast. This car in a straight line is a disappointment.
Now I know you are full of crap, as I was about to buy a 370z at one point and test drove several. 370z felt SLOW as hell compared to the C7 (and it is)

First of all you're comparing apples to oranges.
$100K+ twin turbo compared to $65K N/A
Put about $15K more into your Z51 and you'll have a beast.
Unless you're going to be taking it to the drag strip, it's fast enough in a straight line.
Maybe you should've opted for the Z06. Sounds like you were looking to save some bucks, so there were bound to be some trade offs.
Performance cost $$$ and unless you're willing to spend them stop your whining.

There are 0-60 tracks? I've only been to 1/8th and 1/4 mile tracks. Haven't been to the 1 mile yet. Regardless, is this not the fast list? I see plenty of bone stock C7's not running 12.0's....but running faster. The C7 is obviously, in good hands, good track, weather, an 11 sec 1/4 mile car and certainly fast enough for what it is.

Default re: GT-R and Corvette

It is hard to beat a 4WD car for acceleration from a dead stop.

On street or streetable tire Corvettes and Mustangs and Vipers are traction limited till they get to over 60 or 80mph.

Turbo cars are easy to under-rate and even easier to tweak to get more power. Furthermore, turbo will compensate for altitude i.e. no HP drop. NA motor will loose power everywhere but sea level (compared to the rating).

GT-R is heavy because of the 4WD system. The tranny is clunky. The 4WD arrangement is very cludgy/strange. The main drive-shaft runs to the back of the car, like regular RWD/Corvette... Then another drive-shaft runs all the way back to the front differential!!! What were they thinking? Packaging? Lower COG?... who knows.

GT-R is heavier which again helps in off the line hook-up.

I have seen some fast well driven GT-R's on a road course. In those cases, the 4WD system was removed.

I was converted to Cholin Chapman's belief in lightness. I would encourage everyone here to drive a prepared under 2000lbs car, like a Miata or a Lotus or even a FWD Civic. We can compare notes...

That's not real world, that's marketing.

I had a 2016 GTR.
I've raced heavily modded GT mustangs in that thing (GT with nitrous)
@ 600 rwhp and won at least as much as I lost. Less then 12 seconds
qm (11.3 in auto).
Also have proof that (GT-R)would stay with a 911 turbo s from a roll.
The goddamn thing (GT-R) is now too expensive.

This corvette is slow in a straight line.
With an inexperienced driver in the vette the 370 or even the m3 wins.
But, even an ******* can beat an m3 or 370z in the GTR.

The c7 z51 is a 12 sec 1/4 car with the 7m. It's actually a mid 11 sec car with the auto. Want proof

If you want I can link more proof

I agree the one i drove was also slow. He's just a nissan fan boy on here to stir up trouble. The gtr is a beast but its sooo ugly it could do 8 sec in the 1/4 and i woud not want one.

I don't know what your skill level is, so I apologize if this seems basic, but what gear are you using to get 0-60? Are you comparing from dead stop to 60? because you'll need some skills to do it in a RWD car. Or are you comparing more like 5-60? I believe 60 would be achieved in 2nd gear. Perhaps use your PDR and see if you are actually using all the power. Another factor maybe you're still in your break-in period. In that case, the yellow (warning) region and redline is a lot lower in RPM than after your initial 500 miles. I hope you end up loving the C7.

On another note, what made you purchase the GT-R, and then decided it was too expensive? Wouldn't you loose a lot of cash in the trade?

First, I appreciate a good thread.

Secondly, I wish I had these problems, "my c7 isn't as fast as my GTR, what do I do!?"

Third, if your a car guy, you must appreciate heritage and engineering. The GTR, Porsche, BMW, and the vette have these in spades, but different flavors. AWD with FI, in my opinion, lacks a certain old school character that you get in a built V8. AWD FI is awesome, for sure, but it's also pretty common and getting more popular. I like it all, but the vette is so American, so brash, so loud; it is its own reward.

Look, I like fit women, I like big asses, I like blonde, I like gingers, I like everything for their own nuances. But above all, I love exuberance. Whether it's a real exciting woman or this damn corvette. It's all good.

Spend 7 grand and get a supercharger.

LoL... Trolls. I smoked my friend's 370 in a straight line and he is modded with I/H/E. It wasn't even fair.
