Default Squeaking/popping top

I think I posted on this before. After several trips to dealer, new latches and several days of it sitting at the dealer, I found that it was actually not the top that was making the noises. It was the rear hatch seals. I rubbed dielectric grease all around the seal and it stopped the squeaking/popping noise except on an occasional pot hole.

I just took mine in Friday to get it done.

1 hour later it was done.

No more squeak or pop.

Your dealer has a much better tech than mine. Almost everything I have done to mine has taken several trips to get it right. Most recently was for a squeak in the steering wheel that took 3 trips and them keeping it for 3 days. Finally had to go above the service writer and shop foreman to find someone that knew what the problem was.

Basically, all I did was rub dielectric gel grease on all of the rubber seal around the hatch. I took the top off and did it also. Anything that looked and felt like a seal, I put a coat on it. It seemed loudest in the corner of the passenger area. It has been about a year now and am going to do it again. I have a loud pop towards the front of the top and it sounds like it is in the center of the windshield around the mirror when I hit a pothole. Haven't been able to stop that one. Will see if I can get a good pic. Not sure how to post them but will try.

dmad1, I like your idea but that stuff is awfully messy especially when removing the roof. I have it on the 4 pins in each corner so I know not to hold the roof there. Still have some pops.
