I have a set of O.E.M. Z51 wheels that came silver, were painted black and now I am toying with the idea of having them hard anodized. I would be satisfied with the mat grey finish that is on my Calphalon commercial cookware. Anyone tried it? Any downside?

Need to identify the allow used in the O.E.M. Z51 painted wheels.
Anodizing castings is not that normal a procedure that I am aware of. I have plenty of billet parts anodized all the time. Billet wheels yes but not cast ones. I would have them stripped and repowder coated by someone reputable.
Not sure. Havent looked at them closely enough or read that they are. If they are then yes but know that they need to be uniformly finished before anodizing as it will show through any difference in surface finish where powder coating is much more forgiving. Powder coating is also less of a problem with fading as the anodized parts will over time.
