Hello, working on a 2015 Z51 wreck. Currently, the transmission cooler is ruptured so I can't start the car for more than a few seconds. I can run all systems without error with the car turned on and the engine off except one. The digital displays for the driver and passenger thermostat and the fan speed are blank and there is no way to make it blow air. Is this normal? Do these only turn on once the engine is on?
Sorry to be a pest, but could someone take note the next time you fire up your car?
I assume you are asking about SERVICE ONLY mode (see below). In service only mode on my 2014 M7 Z51 the instrument panel and info screens are active and ALL personalization items are accessible. But - no HVAC controls, temp settings, fan speed, or HVAC button lights are active.
There's no mention of operable HVAC in the 2014 manual.
Service Only Mode
This power mode is available for
service and diagnostics, and to
verify the proper operation of the
malfunction indicator lamp as may
be required for emission inspection
purposes. With the vehicle off, and
the brake pedal not applied,
pressing and holding the button for
more than five seconds will place
the vehicle in Service Only Mode.
The instruments and audio systems
will operate as they do in ON/RUN,
but the vehicle will not be able to be
driven. The engine will not start in
Service Only Mode. Press the
button again to turn the vehicle off.
