Default MGW Shift **** Position

For you MGW users, I'm thinking seriously about getting an MGW shifter for my 2016 Stingray, the stock replacement not the flat stick. The OEM unit sits just a little bit aft for my taste. Does the MGW change the perceived position of the stock **** in the neutral gate and in the 2-4-6 positions? I've run several searches in this forum and the C7 general forum but I could only find discussions of height, not position. I have asked the question of MGW directly but I wanted user opinions as well. TIA

***UPDATE*** I heard from George at MGW, and he said (and I'm paraphrasing) it will work because we used to have it at 1 and 7 and it interfered but the 12 on the C7 doesn't seem to be an issue.

I turned my box so it was a little bit more forward since I have longer arms and sit back as far as possible too. Just make sure **** is all the way screwed down on threaded rod or might be too much of a stretch for the shift boot. It's a great choice!

The new MGW allows you to position the shifter at either 6:00 or 12:00. I put mine at 12:00, and it gave me that little bit of additional room. No interference and it has worked perfectly for 18 months. I also modified the detent on the transmission with a brass oil drain washer on the detent bolt and the result is short throw, ultra precise, and very little notchiness - as good a gearbox as I've ever driven.

Mike,

I made the switch weeks after I purchased my 2016 C7 manual. I have no regrets whatsoever. The MGW is an amazing shifter. I'm not sure why Chevrolet would NOT put this in every one of their cars.

Nonetheless, to answer your question, I could NOT perceive any differences in positions, i.e., neutral, or any of the gears. Nor, did I take any measurements. As a short throw shifter, you might think that all gear positions would be different than stock. You will definitely notice a dramatic difference in shifting and the throw.

It could quite possibly be the best mod you can make to your C7.

Yep. Enlisted as a Parachute Rigger and Aircrewman then commissioned as an NFO in S-3A ASW aircraft. Retired in 1992.
Thanks for your service, brother.

If you install the MGW in the 6:00 position, the shift **** will be in about the same position fore/aft as stock. If you install the MGW in the 12:00 position the shift **** will be @ 2" further away. That's an eyeball measurement as I didn't measure the stock shifter.
