Default C7 8L90 8 Speed Shift Point Tuning

Hey All,

I'm reaching out to the forum to see if anyone has had their 8 speed transmission tweaked as to shift points and the way it shifts. What I'm really looking for is someone who is knowledgeable with the 8L90 and understands how to "tune" it if you will. If you've come across someone that you recommend, that's who I want to talk to. I would like it to be someone who actually has had this done and has had no issues since the tuning was done.

My C7 is a high wheel horsepower car. So someone who has experience with this kind of application also is a plus. In short, I'm looking for someone who knows what they are doing on the 8L90. I don't want to be a science experiment for someone that wants to learn how to do it. The car is fine, and makes mid to low 10 sec passes. The shifting is just not optimal. It's a bit on the slow side and needs some TLC.

I can provide the Performance Data Recorder recordings so the current way it is shifting can be see as it makes passes down the drag strip.

Please keep responses on the positive side. There are always some that make negative comments for one reason or another. I'd like to discourage that please.

So vendors / members / tuners, if you have some input on the subject, I'd love to hear from you. The car is current tuned with HP tuners software. The engine side of the tune is working great.

Looking forward to some constructive input on this topic.

Thanks All!!!!

Thanks!

So it's by shifting fast enough or you want different shift points???

The engine tune is directly related to the trans tune

Our initial impression is that it shifts slow, But also no doubt the shift points are not optimal. Watching the shifting on the PDR, you'll see what I mean. I'll try and post the PDR file up here if I can figure out how to do it.

Check with Chuck Cow. He is a vendor on this forum. I have no personal experience with him.

Fantastic Dizzy. I sent him an PM so I'll see if he has any first hand experience with this kind of thing. Thanks for pointing me in his direction.

What can be done to change the trans for different shifting points that may improve performance. I have wondered if the shift points are optimal for a more performance oriented style of driving on the street.

Many things can be changed including speed and rpms that each gear shifts up and down.
