I read about these failing for those that track their cars and thought it was mainly autocross.
At the last VIR full event with temps in the mid 90's I threw P12F0 & P12FD codes.
Will GM replace these if you have LT's & x-pipe installed?
Will removing fuse 32 eliminate the CEL?
Thanks!
I'd be curious what your dealer says. I just installed ARH mid lengths with high flow cats over the weekend. Then, ran at Watkins Glen and AFMs failed (not the first time). I always just cleared the code after track event and the CEL never came back on until next track event. Now, it seems to be on the permanently. Figures! I still have factory tune.
If the AFM actuators failed the CEL will come on every time you start the car, even if you clear them. The car goes through a "boot cycle" each time it is turned on and checks all the sensors, I know this because I've experienced it first hand.
The dealer SHOULD cover it under warranty because it is a known issue to happen to 100% stock cars. Even Tadge somewhat acknowledged the issue in the fact that '17+ manual Z51's and GS's will no longer have AFM actuators. However it is possible the dealer won't cover it since the exhaust has been modified. FYI those actuators cost over $800.
