Just wondering if buying all your mods i.e. headers, x pipe, axle back, upper pulley, and harmonic balancer is appropriate to take to a shop and have them install then tune or should all of these components be purchased through the shop?

just call local shops and see what their deals are. Then ask if you could bring your own parts. Some won't like that. Some will be ok with it.

Normally if you go into a shop with a list like that they will try and make you the best deal on parts. Their cash flow is from the labor. Try that first but if they only offer X headers and you want Y headers for a specific reason they really shouldn't give you much of a hard time.

I'd always go in to my shop letting them know what I wanted but let them choose the path. Work with them, they are the pros, let them feel that way

They can usually get the part cheaper than we can
Etiquette wouldnt worry about money is money

On motors, bring your own parts in they wont warranty it most times.
If they get upset you didnt buy your headers through them T.S.

We prefer parts are purchased through us, we match the online guys and you won't be paying customer supplied parts labor. Parts profit help's keep the doors open too, I typically will allow customer supplied stuff unless it's a junk brand or something like that. You just will pay higher labor is all and have a warranty on our work being right. If a part fails and you supplied it we are in no way responsible to cover labor if the failure was not installation related.
