Launch control is a waste of time and yes don't hot lap it, After a run, open the hood, let the heat sink remove for about half hour, get back in line, leave your hood open as much as possible, run the engine as little as possible. Best time when at the min of full operation temp. Forget L/C, get a set of 18" DR's.
I did do a 12.8 with all driver aids off. Just as I left the 60' area I got wheel slip and caught it.
What would be your best guess as to how much time I shave off with drag radials?
It's almost a no -brainer with DR's at least 1/2 the time. Best size would be 285/40R18 or some use 305/35R18. You would still need a nice burn-out. When you come up to the tree stop as soon as the second light comes on. I leave at a complete idle and stomp on the gas in Sport with the T/C disabled. Here is my latest 60's with my base A8 NPP DR's Complete stock.
My advice is forget LC. I never use it. Find out after trying a couple of methods and you'll find one that works best on your car. I do the exact same method that C2367 uses except when I stage I hold the brakes as hard as I can & quickly floor it & let off. This flashes the torque converter which helps your launch. By the way C2367, excellent 60 ft times!

Those numbers are impressive. In a 1/4 mile there doesnt seem to be a reason why you couldnt get high 11s.
Im 100% stock as well. 2014 Z51 A6.
Thanks, have been in the 11.7's when I was only getting a 1.766 60' when the car was about 2-3 months old, now getting up to 1/0th better and each tenth is worth about 2/10 in the 1/4. I well be running the quarter again when the weather permits, now it is a wast of time due to the excessive air temp. I think the first gear in a Z51 A6 is close to the first A8 non Z51. I am not going to do any mods, the car runs and functions fine. It is more impressive to have a plane Jane complete stock car that runs strong, the factory did a nice job on that. All you need is tires that hook and or a well prepared strip.
I've taken your advice and have been looking into drag radials. Do you have any preferences on brand? Mickey Thompson? Nitto?
What about wheel size? 18X10?
Would get the race star 18X10.5 they can be used with either size tires. Would go with the M/T's. M/T does not make my tire now and my rim is 18X9, I can still get some passes on the tires but getting close to the ware bar. The wheels I have recommends a 285/40/18 and have called M/M and was told it would be fine. The problem I may have is the offset with the 285's. I may have to get new wheels and tires next time. Here are my Discontinued M/T DR's.
These are the lightest and cheapest forged wheels i have found for this application.
(nurburgring wheels 18x10.5 5x120.65)
I was going to run them on my c7 z06 but I couldn't get matching skinny fronts with the right bolt pattern. These 18x10.5's are only 21 lbs, thats super light and these can be found for less than $260 shipped each.
If you want to run DR's in the rear and skinnies in the front, the best i have found is the Polished Race Stars at about $1200-1300/set 4.
As far as the Drag Radials. 315/30-18 Hoosier DR2's come highly recommended and are also way lighter (11 lbs ea) than the MT's, but will not last as long. (A smaller 305 would probably be plenty with a non-z06) Lighter wheels and lighter tires means faster. These Hoosiers are also about as close as you can get to a slick for an 18" DR, which makes them not suitable for street use. You definitely want the smallest diameter wheel that you can fit over your brakes, the more sidewall on the tire, the better.

Reason: forgot to put wheel information in.
Was at the drags yesterday and one guy that knows me has the Hoosier 315/30/18's but mounted on either 18/10 or 18/9.5, did not look like a good fit but worked. Yes they are about 25 lbs and 26' tall so it should be a nice combo on a rim that they would function on. Hoosier recommends a 11-12" wide wheel for that tire. The wheels this guy had them on did not look like a good fit, the tires where pulled in big.
